What exactly IS Liandry's Torment? Infinity Edge is clearly a sword, for example, and Rabadon's Deathcap is a hat. But what's the Torment? Is it just some chick's face? Is Brand just rubbing some poor lady's detached face all over his enemies? Is that her torment?

It is probably a cursed mask. There are some tales floating around of vain-stricken people turning to such devices, only to have them horrifically turn against them. In other contexts, they're literal torture devices, usually with some built in tool to torment the wearer.
