SO! Now that this symbol officially has a name....what does it mean for the 7 champions clouded over by the Black Mist, and marked by "The Betrayer"? http://promo.na.leagueoflegends.com/assets/harrowing-2014/img/icon-small-1.jpg http://promo.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/harrowing-2014

Leblanc (probably many) Zed (Shen) Twisted Fate (Graves) Cassiopeia (Sivir) Lissandra (Frost Guard, other Freljordians) Xerath (Shurima/Emperor Azir) Hecarim (???)

Hecarim is the only one actually from the shadow isles but I hope we learn more about him in the future.

I personally like the idea that when the Shadow Isles was still a normal kingdom, perhaps Hecarim was a knight or something who betrayed them and caused the undead plague to cover the island.

And in death he somehow was fused with his mount, becoming the Hecarim we see in game.

(Hecarim is an anagram of "Chimera", which is a monster created via the fusion of two creatures, man and horse, for example.)

Leblanc betrayed Noxus for her organization. And its been theorized that Hecarim was not always on the side of the Shadow Isles, that he may have fought against them in the past.

I just hope they learnt from Shurima event 2 things:

  • You can't vandilize an already existing character motives/archetype
  • You HAVE to have a story ready before the shortening of lores in order to include that in as SOON as possible and not leave your playerbase with 3 lines for 1 month and a half.

yeah hecarim is the only one who doesn't seem to be a betrayer, but we simply don't know anything about him besides that he is the herald of the shadow isles.

Hecas past and his relations to the other champs are completely unknown,so there is enough room for him to have betrayed someone in the past.

the mark of the betrayer has a completely different background than you know... found this on an ancient thread. "There exists an ancient order originating in the Ionian Isles dedicated to the preservation of balance. Order, chaos, light, darkness -- all things must exist in perfect harmony for such is the way of the universe. This order is known as the Kinkou and it employs a triumvirate of shadow warriors to uphold its causes in the world. Cheng was one of these shadow warriors, entrusted with the sacred duty of Pruning the Tree - eliminating those who threaten the equilibrium of Valoran. Until one day Cheng betrayed the order. Cheng descended into darkness too deep and too often to return, her acceptance of chaos twisted her definition of order." I feel strongly that the black mist has something to do with what we see here, but surely, the mark of the betrayer has something to do with betrayal, as opposed to simply shadow isles black magic, and what-not. and honestly, who knows anything. all I've found are rumors of rumors, but I believe I'm on the right track... too many unanswered questions...

EDIT: added more of the quote, and if you didn't know, triumvirate means group of 3.
