Has the Splash Update Team been around?

If I'm not mistaken, some of the most recent splash updates have sparked some concern (Ahri, Janna, Kayle, Wukong). I haven't been keeping up with the boards much as of late but was wondering if they ever asked the community for guidance/feedback while working on the updates?

They haven't been as far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong). I was wondering if it'd be too much for some people from the Splash Update Team to stop by the boards from time to time and maybe ask, "Hi, we're planning on an update for <insert champion> soon, what do you think are the key things their splash should convey?"

The changes to Ahri and Janna in particular have bothered me. While very well drawn, they also convey very different characters compared to their old splashes. Ahri's fox features aren't very prominent and I feel Janna lost her warmth.

Changing splashes shift how champions are perceived and as a result change how we relate to them in a way very similar to changing lore or gameplay. Gameplay has historically been one of the better departments as far as asking the community for feedback, and lore has been attempting to follow suit after the retcon backlash. Perhaps the Splash Update Team could try to as well?
