So, this question is mainly directed at RIOT employees. Have you guys ever created a Dungeons and Dragons campaign in the Runeterra universe? Did you guys use any of the characters from League as PC's or NPC's?
I believe there's a group that runs games fairly regularly - though I think it's a homebrew system that's lighter on systems and heavier on the storytelling. Not sure if it's all OCs or if they play as champs, or if they are reserved for NPCs!

They play Castles and Cows instead.
While I am not a Rioter I have a D&D Runeterra setting floating around in one of my notebooks, the in-game champions are all NPC's and are busy doing their own things, I don't allow players to have a direct relation to any specific champion.

Before Draven can finish, by luck he gets the hit on Lee Sin, slowing him. However on the return, the axe flies lower than he expects & he trips over his own axe down into Baron Nashor's Pit, accidentally aggro'ing the Baron in the process

If they finish fleshing out the Lore and don't retcon the core principles again, this would be a cool way for them to keep players at least tangentially engaged. I have lost a lot of love for the actual gameplay of League, but I do enjoy Lore and am a fan of D&D as well as several other d20-based games (d20 modern, Mutants and Masterminds, Star Wars RPG, etc...). If Riot published a d20 flavor with their IP, I would almost definitely pick it up.

I did for awhile.
Was playing with some new players, and I wanted some story/characters to draw on so it would be less work for me. None of the other people in my group played LoL, so it wasn't a fan service type thing. It was more to make my job easier.
They came away convinced that Garen, Vayne, and Tryndamere were all badasses, and they all hated Talon. I did my job.
