I always wondered where did this pairing come from, so I'm just looking for some background.
I know she's a member of Demacia's Elite with Jarvan at the head, but that's all i know.

There appears to be a mutual respect between the two. Jarven not being what she expected, and him encouraging Quinn to follow her own judgment, as well as personally granting her a place amid the Demacian elite for her success.

Jarvan and Shyvana are probably closer, but her ability to change into a dragon makes her untrustworthy in the eyes of the Demacian people, and Jarvan being the future king needs to respect the public opinion. Quinn on the other hand, is a Demacian by birth, and this makes her a much more traditional choice for a relationship. Both are members of the Vanguard strictly for their unique abilities, but they both in a position to try and win Jarvan's heart.

midnight oil246 votesWell for one thing, that's fairly rude to the female characters. But also, he leaves his country behind to go on some redemption quest, leaving his kingdom without a prince. What if the king had died?
Also, shyv is half dragon, and quinn flies around. the most Jarvan can do is make a crater.

Secondly he went on a redemption quest to become a better king.
Call me crazt but Demacia would be better off with a confident King that knew himself as opposed to a weak and indecisive King, which pretty much describes J4 immediately after his rescue. He was humiliated and his confidence and ability shattered. You can't run a kingdom that way.
Also don't underestimate the crater. It is powered by Demacia.
Also Quinn needs Valor to fly. Jarvan can just slam the ground and make a crater. Pretty impressive.
midnight oil242 votesI know that it's better off with a confident king but it's sort of like if the next in line to the throne of england decided that he wanted to be a better king so he went off on a redemption quest. It's impractical and helps no one.

Besides, Demacia didn't invade and try to conquer Ionia. That was Noxus.
