Retcon, as Lore

I don't know if I posted this earlier (I think I did, but I didn't see it), so forgive me if this is a repeat.

A lot of people are against the retcon from what I've seen in the boards here, and I personally don't think the Narrative/Story team was in any way cornered. But, I feel that what could work is, instead of having to redefine every champion to make it so that the League never existed, define the champs so that League ONCE existed.

I know that comics retcon fairly often, but they also cover their bases in reintroducing characters.

I think it could save time, as instead of redoing Jax's lore for example, create an event that abolishes the League of Legends, and then add a blurb or two about what he's doing after (or say nothing at all. he's still fighting).

Part of this comes from that idea that to save as much of what is old lore, and not mess around with some of the new lore.

What do you guys think?

I don't recall the specifics, but I do remember saying that removing the IoW would be tricky. Even if you remove the physical building, its effects can still be seen, and it doesn't stop them from making another. To destroy it completely, on the other hand, to completely shatter its reputation and being so that it could never be remade, would be a feat of lore that we haven't even come close to seeing.

If they aren't good enough writers to work around the League, what makes you think they are good enough writers to come up with an in-universe way of eliminating the League?

Just accept the fact that Narrative blows, and we're never going to get actual lore because there is no money in it. Riot only wants flashy stuff they can show off on the front page, like the Amumu video and the Shurima "comic" and the Bard anime. The actual writing for the lore might as well be done by an unpaid intern in a broom closet somewhere in Riot HQ.

They don't want to have to use a universe (an?) where the IoW once existed. It affects everything within that universe even after dissolution.

It's repeated regardless. Literally every two mins some one post something about the retconned......

This is one of the ideas I had in terms of champions like Ryze Ryze who are incredibly tied with the League. His Visual Update could reflect that Fall of the Institute thing and still be his old Ryzy self.

This decision could potentially lead up to the Void event and naturally end the League through an event of world changing proportions. The league will be removed but it wont be completely removed from the universe, it would have at least have existed before the Void attack. (would potentially put Nocturne with the Void and re-enact the cinematic fight that we had with Ryze).

If such is the case perhaps what happened was there may have been some catclysmic event that destroyed the League.
