It's time for the community to start writing; a modest proposal.
Proposal: The community should begin writing the lore.
I don't mean to put down Riot by any means, but a very substantial portion of the community has been itching for a good story, and Riot has not been providing. Many people come to the forums to write about how there are missed opportunities, how there's no interesting connection between characters, no real story etc., and for good reason. Even if Riot does eventually put out all of the story they've thought of, at the pace of every released and reworked champion, the apocalypse would have already come and the cyborgs would have taken over; league would be long forgotten by the time chapter 2 came out. Whatever their reasons, Riot is a company and they're most likely doing what they think is best or viable, and so I don't blame them so much.
Instead, I blame you, community.
I mean, just look at this post-

#Piltover A city of progress and ecologically-friendly technology. A city low in crime and high in living standards. Quite possibly the single most enviable place to live in all of Valoran... Assuming you've got what it takes to get in. It's kind've like a world-class college, in that respect. For the past few decades, the city has been held in high esteem by the other nations; a forward-thinking, environmentally-conscious settlement comprised of morally upright citizens devoted to the gradual betterment of all of mankind. Also Heimerdinger and Ziggs make bombs.
At least, on paper, this seems to be the case. But as it stands, it has been years since Piltover has managed to churn out anything revolutionary. New Zeppelin models, slightly more efficient power sources, weapon upgrades - all, admittedly, admirable in their own right, right? Right! And yet...
...across the river, lies a city. A twin city, split from Piltover due to a difference of opinion. And the things they do... the things that they've... acheived there...

Read that post and its responses below. See how interesting that was? It's no story, but I believe this is pretty clear proof that many of our forum goers are good at analyzing and writing properly. They're capable of writing a story, and as many would say about Riot's lore team, "I'd like to see you do better! If not, don't complain!"
So. Do it.
A few dedicated writers and the community could come together and write their own (not-canon-but-competing) lore. Having fake lore is better than no real lore, and many people WOULD come and read the new stories of scandals, character interactions, champion interviews, journals of j- i mean random newspaper article-like mediums of storytelling, and whatever this team of writers would come up with if Riot did not produce anything better. If done right, this fake-lore could even be preferred as the canon over whatever Riot has cooked up, especially if it follows the whole No-Institute-Of--War and No-Summoners pit of blankness that Riot made in a logical and interesting manner.
The format would be simple: A few actual writers with a bit of knowledge under their belt would get voted on by the community based on their sample league-related stories and ideas, and would then begin writing stories based on community request, community input, questions, and polls about what definitely should or should not be traits of characters that haven't been fleshed out yet. The voted-on writers would edit stories based on community input, and slowly but surely a whole world could be built where there previously was none for Riot.
This would have the benefit of not only providing lore for everyone, but also making a name for aspiring writers and comics, and whoever else participates in the art, the design, the formats, the anything. It would help the community get together. It would hurt Riot's pride and draw attention. If done right, this could be a spectacle.
Thoughts?
