Demacia sounds like a typical patriarchal fantasy kingdom. Women need to marry to pop out heirs most likely. That or other families want to marry into the Fleurent family.

They're implied to be a psuedo-fascist, the individual isn't important but the nation-state of Demacia is. A single person doesn't matter but how they contribute to the nation-state does matter. This means you do what's best for your country at cost to yourself.
In a sense, there's no free will. Demacia isn't a bastion of freedom or liberty but sounds more like order and justice.

as for the reason why she was pressured, in this case i think it was about bringing the families closer together for political benefits. but Demacia sounds like a country that doesn't believe in a woman being a head of a family or a leader due to number of reasons.

she doesn't really come off as arrogant to me.stubborn? hell yeah but not arrogant. but if she is : could be number of reasons. like they had no idea about her personality or they did but didn't care. or that it is no relevant because the actual purpose of a marriage isn't two people living together as much as it is about the political benefits. or that the crownguard dude that was suppose to marry her was forced into it like fiora
