So with many of the other magic users in League, we have a source of their magic as well as its clear classification. Lux uses light magic, Vladimir uses blood magic, LeBlanc uses illusion magic, etc.
But what sort of magic does Swain use? Is it raven sorcery or something like that? And what is the source of his powers? A deal with a dark force?

We don't really know. Swain's an enigma as are his powers and Beatrice. The implications nowadays is that Beatrice is a demon of some kind, but of course the theories about Swain and Beatrice are long lived and nothing new. Either way Beatrice seems to be linked to Swain's powers, what exactly that means is unknown.
Hopefully it'll be expanded further when he gets reworked, which is hopefully gonna be next year. Alternatively hopefully they just update his lore this year but eh, who knows.

Listen to what Aurelion Sol has to say. Humans and Yordles like to classify magic, but magic doesn't actually function based on categories. Classification helps us understand it but doesn't really tell us anything about how it works.

I suspect a form of Necromancy. Much if it seems to be debilitating and life sustaining throw stealing life essence. Also the Raven has historical ties to such magic.

Demon magic is what I use for headcannon. He struck a deal with some demon looking raven, or a raven god idk. He payed the price of his leg, or lost it when fighting the demon. Or he did some ritual that went wrong and hurt his leg.
