Lets, talk about Alistar's future lore update... Again

First of all, this is just my honest opinion so please dont be triggered.

Lets start this with his old lore, his old lore is like this.

> Always a mighty warrior with a fearsome reputation, Alistar seeks revenge for the death of his clan at the hands of the Noxian empire. Though he was enslaved and forced into the life of a gladiator, his Unbreakable Will unbreakable will was what kept him from truly becoming a beast. Now, free of the chains of his former masters, he fights in the name of the downtrodden and the disadvantaged, his rage as much a weapon as his horns, hooves and fists.

Honestly, i don't like his old lore. Like really? another generic minotour race and has the "I'm the last of my clan cliche" treatment. Not only that but many champs already embodied his lore like Zin Zhao ( His hometown in Ionia was destroyed by noxians, was enslaved and made as a gladiator and lastly he fights in the name of the downtrodden and the disadvantaged like a demacian soldier? and neeko, being the last of her kind(?). I think with these key point alistar seems tacky or like a Zin 2.0 in terms of lore.

So what would i recommend? full revamp his lore like the other champs. I already have a theory about his identity but you will read it later in the thread. First, let me give riot an insight/options/directions about his potential in the lore of LOL.

PS: Its not to late to change stuff unless its already out so please, think about it Riot's narrative team because its harder to change it when its out.

Possible outcomes:

  1. Make him a bestial/elemental spirit like Ornn, Anivia, Volibear or even Rammus. You guys even said that elemental spirits doesn't only reside on the freljord but whats important is that there are still people worshiping them so that they would gain a physical form. Maybe make him like the demi-god of earth like making rammus the demi-god of sand. With his might, he would also be a nice deity to the Rakkor in Mt.targon or even tribes in Noxus?

  2. Make him a vastaya and have him have a different lore but has a homage to his original one like Soraka's lore update. Make him reside to Mt. Targon and have his clan become like an Isolated vastaya clan that wants to help the humans but was betrayed by them. (Question, Is the Vastayan heritage flower drawing has all the vastayan tribes in it or not? I hope not) Maybe alistar's tribe wants to become isolated because the Rakkor tribe in Mt. Targon makes them as their slaves or be their punching partner in the past. That explains his chains in his hands. Maybe they first started as buddies with the Rakkor tribe until the humans became very selfish, deluded and made the Minotour Vastayan Clan as their slaves because of their power to blacksmith and carry stuff. Until there comes a revolution with the minotours and the rakkor because the minotours doesn't want to be enslaved ever again. It became a massacre and although the minotours fought back they lose the fight because the celestial helped the Rakkor, giving them precious items that can chain almost any living being. Almost all the minotour clan got extinct except alistar and some of his friends (maybe only 8 of them survived the massacre). Because of Alsitar Unbreakable Will, it what kept him from truly becoming a beast/enslaved, breaking the chains with his hands. Because of what happen, alistar swear that he would fight in the name of the downtrodden and the disadvantaged of his clan if the humans/Rakkor intervene with them ever again. Their vastayan clan now lives at the westernmost part of Mount Targon, never want to trust any humans again or worst, any kind of races even other vastayan tribes. Until decades later, a celestial named soraka came into their tribe. Trusting each other was very hard at first and alistar as now the head of the clan keeps insisting that she goes away. However, soraka doesn't want to go away because she felt the pain in alistar's heart and also alistar's clan members. With soraka's insisting attitude, she proved herself to alistar and his clan that she could be trusted and she tought them healing magic, to heal their hearts from the pain that they felt from the revolution and to heal other in time of need. And thats how alistar become alistar. The end

As for may theory, I think the minotour race has been seen in Mt.targon because in leona's story, there are horned creatures in that place. Minotours also live in mountains like in mt.targon (yeah i know that great barrier was been retconed at the lower part of noxus but we must move on with that past story fam!) and in the past alistar lived besides mt.tagon when the great barrier was still there. Also greek/roman influences are taken in the mt. targon so minotours are a great homage to the mountain. Also we also don't know if the flower diagram has all the vastayan tribes, making the minotour race a possible vastaya clan. I also don't like riot making another race like the minotour because its kinda generic and making them vastaya is unique. "But why would they exclude him in the vastay update????" simple, they dont know what the direction that they want for alistar yet at that time, so i bet its time to make him one. lastly, I think they're the vastaya clan in soraka's new bio story:

Currently, Soraka calls the westernmost peaks of Targon her home. She watches over an isolated tribe of vastaya, teaching them her healing ways, and tending quietly to her own needs—though what brings her so close to the great mountain, or how long she will stay, only Soraka knows.

Many times, she has watched entire civilizations dance close to the brink of destruction, and she has learned that she cannot save those who do not wish it, nor force them to see what they will not.

That ends my alistar thread, have a nice day and peace out!.

I hope minotaurs stay a separate race that aren't vastaya. Make them like trolls, connected to the land in some way. They reside in the Great Barrier, isolationist would be cool. Don't make him the last of his kind.

I think Noxus is a good place for Alistar. What do you think of this possible story:

During the Noxian invasion of Ionia, the Noxians found the minotaur tribe of Vastaya and enslaved them to be used as living siege weapons. After being fought back out of the country, they took some of the minotaurs with them. Back in Noxus, Alistar broke out and freed his people, who fled to the Great Barrier mountains, where they now live.

I think there is a lot of potential for Alistar's lore update. I think removing Noxus from it though would be too much of a departure from the original character though. Regardless, I'm really looking forward to it.

The thing with the Vastaya tree is that none of the Landwalker tribes sound like Minotaurs. Unless, of course, it is incomplete like you said it might be.

The Landwalker tribes we haven't seen yet are; Ottrani, which sound like otters or something. Khonlui, "rhinobears?". Ophelis, "charming".

So unless Alistar sprouts wings out his ass or grows gills, if he is Vastaya, his tribe isn't on the tree.

Also, how would making him Vastaya make him unique? There are tons of other Vastaya, both in the game and the lore, and I don't think him being a Vastaya is unique at all. We already know there are sentient, animal-like beings in Runeterra that aren't connected to Vastaya, such as the Brakern. Why can't Alistar remain a unique being instead of just another Vastaya?

The isolated tribe of Vastaya that are mentioned in Soraka's lore are likely the Marai, Nami's tribe.

I much prefer Alistar's role in Noxus as a gladiator alongside XinZhao a possible kinship or rivalry could have been born between the two. Especially if Riot is going to keep him becoming a slave apart of his lore, that should happen in Noxus.

While it would be nice to have all the Greco-Roman references connected to Targon, as we can see with Cassiopeia it doesn't have to be the case. If Alistar were connected to Targon, likely he'd be a wanderer from the celestial realm/ a monster of the mist unlike Soraka.

I'd say let Alistar keep the most important aspects of his old lore intact and change more of Xin Zhao's lore where the two overlap too much.

The point about him being a god-like spirit is wildly unnecessary imo, but that's mostly because I find nothing about his abilities to be magical or divine in nature. It would subject an abrupt mismatch between the character and its game counter part. His strong resilience works cohesively well with his current form of lore.

Then the whole moving to Targon seems pointless. World Building went to the effort to keep The Great Barrier Mountains canon. I fail to see why they'd condemn all that and remove the only champion to originally hail from those mountains by moving him elsewhere. It seems so counter productive.

I'm always on the side for major lore revamps, but Alistar's seems to be one of them that won't be, and I actually don't mind that. But characters who need big changes like Zilean, Sion, Talon, Gregas, I would have said Soraka too but...

Overall I'd actually say that Alistars lore should begin within the arena of Noxus, wheras Xin Zhao escaped the arena.

I mean his lore being about how he breaks free is likely gonna be more interesting than him just roaming the world. Heck I'd even be ok if they did a complete 180° on Alistars character and make it so that he actually likes fighting in the arena(maybe he started out as a slave, but won his freedom eventually?),simply because I feel like the arena is really the only interesting aspect of Alistars entire story.

Also I'd appreciate it if his race was not wiped out,as that has been done in LoL with Willump, Neeko and to some extend even Skarner.
