The Relationship of Lunari vs Solari, and their Embodiments
Edit: Added Tldr
Most of us know the stories of Leona and Diana. Diana was a person who discovered the existence of the previous worship of the Moon, bringing it up to the elders to be put down, only for Diana to become obsessed with the idea of its worship until the elders were about to execute her. She brings up this hidden chapter of Targon, that of the Lunari. To the people of Targon, the Lunari have been completely destroyed from history. From the Solari elders, we can see that they were quite serious in pushing her down in her questioning of the Sun. I'm assuming we can apply some of their traits toward the general Solari, such as how religious they are, and their hate for those who would even begin to stray from their path, even resorting to executions (which considering Leona's lore, mean little to the Rakkor) such as in the case of Leona and Diana, which brings me to a different slightly off topic train of thought I would like to share.
Diana's lore is about a Solari running off the path and being branded a heretic before coming back and killing those who branded her such with the power of the moon. She faced the cruelty of the Rakkor. Leona's lore similarly shows Leona as someone who is against killing, and as such refuses to partake in a tradition of the Rakkor, the Rite of Kor, which ends in her planned execution, only to have her saved by the sun itself, after facing the cruelty of the Rakkor. See a similarity? If they had been able to get to know each other (I'm not sure if they already are acquainted) they would have been able to easily relate. It shows us that the Sun and the Moon aren't necessarily enemies, but more two parts of the same whole (think yin and yang), which is a point I'll be going into later. I'd also like to point out (yet again) the cruelty of the Rakkor, and how even the Sun can at times be against it.
I'd like now, for you to point your attention back toward just Diana, and her lore. Before she discovered the sealed temple, or anything of the sort, she had been attracted toward the moon, which led her to such discoveries. Considering what I brought up earlier, about the nature of the Solari elders, Diana was very odd for a Solari. A Solari that found comfort in the moon. I would like the bring up a somewhat off topic question of, "What happened to the Lunari." With Diana's unusual interest in the moon, I've been led to the educated guess that Diana is not a Solari, become Lunari, but an ancestor of the Lunari, which leads me back again to that question, but I'm going to go a bit off topic (again) to buildup to my implications of an answer.
Going back to how the Lunari was nonexistent to the Solari, and hidden secrets were found otherwise, I think that every part of Solari myth involving the Sun, could also be somehow also related towards the Moon as well. I know that this is a long stretch, but the fact that there had been possible coexistence between these two makes me think that my ideas may not be so far-fetched. This brings me to Leona's lore, which speaks of the Solari as a thing founded by a man who could, "call the raw might of the sun down upon his enemies in combat," so following my earlier logic, wouldn't the Lunari also be the founded upon the same area, the closest point on Valoran to the Sun (and to my belief the moon)? Perhaps the two who founded the Lunari and Solari were brothers.
In my second paragraph, I talked about the possibility of the Sun and Moon not necessarily being enemies, but two parts of the same whole. Let me apply that logic to the origins of the Lunari/Solari (I'm putting the Lunari first just because!). Considering the Lunari and Solari seemed to at one time coexisted, I start to think about the possibility of the "Eclipse", or the worship of both Sun and Moon, the two celestial bodies that they worshiped as gods. Perhaps the Lunari, and Solari (I did it again) were simply those who leaned toward one celestial, or the other (as both were equals), while there were also those who worshiped the two equally (I've become accustomed to calling them the eclipse).
I (randomly) talked about the question of, "What happened to the Lunari," a while ago, and I'd like to discuss my implications on this now. I believe, as with all groups, that the the coexisting Solari and Lunari had those who showed resentment toward the other, some even going a bit extreme, and the idea of eclipse was beginning to break apart. Beyond the time of the founders, who I think would have been respectful toward one another and would have kept the peace, what if the hate between the Solari and Lunari grew large, and a group of Solari began to go to the extremes, and began to say to themselves that the Sun was the only true "god" to worship? What if this party of the Solari gained enough power within them to one day go out and decide that they would destroy the Lunari. They would have threatened, "Either join us, or we'll kill you." If after, they would have destroyed anything that had anything to do with the Lunari, except there was still a hidden temple waiting to be discovered. This was the (megling) genocide of the Lunari. I also like to think that at this time, the ideals of the founders had fallen to dust, and extremes replaced them until we get the current Targon that we see in Diana, and Leona's lore.
Now, let me stop thinking of the past, and now begin to think of the future of the Lunari, and Solari. The Lunari, is now broken apart, and the Solari lives strong, but to me, it lives corrupted from original ideals. Diana and Leona have a lot in common, as I pointed out in the second paragraph, but I think similarities could go further. If given a good chance, they would both most likely have great respect for each other, and I think that the two of them could somehow repair the fissure between the Lunari and Solari, and somehow bring back the Lunari. I myself like to think that Diana is the ancestor of the founder of the Lunari, and Leona, of the Solari (broken away from the corruption when it became clear it existed). Perhaps the bonds of Lunari and Solari, Moon and Sun, could be repaired many years after their separation.
Tldr: It seems that there isn't one, now go back and read it!
