if Riot was "pulling Apple tactics" all prestige skins would break after 1 years and you'd have to pay $800 to get them repaired in official licensed Riot skin repair shops (TM).

I'm going to downvote you because you think it's an unpopular opinion, despite this topic being front page on the boards.

I’m not going to downvote you, it’s your opinion. Also, if you’ve even been semi active on the boards you know that’s the most popular opinion

So just going to add this: a phone is a boarderline necessity in today’s world. I’d probably go into a discussion about economy but let’s not. A prestige skin is a luxury in a video game.

Apple oudates their own tech and releases patches that can actually hurt your phone If its too old. A prestige skin offers a unique color pallet and recall.

Look, I’ve yet to buy a prestige skin, but I don’t hate them. It’s not like I’m even required to think about them each game. Riots not pulling people off of other projects and reducing quantity or quality of new skins or champions.

Let’s not forget, prestige skins were introduced to allow collectors to get something exclusive and exciting while allowing regular players to still have access to a skin. New Ramus players will NEVER have the bowser skin. But if instead you told me a new Ramus player will never have the gold chroma to the bowser skin, that feels a bit better. Sure if kinda sucks but not so much I feel like I don’t have full access to my champ.

Correction: Riot is pulling Lootbox tactics.

Why the hell do you think they've made the only way to earn a glorified bronze chroma to spend over $100 (at least 4 times as much as the most expensive skins, when purchased outright) on lootboxes, under the pretense of "collectors content". The entire purpose of the yearly prestige skins is not to give the community access to exclusive content, it's to incentivise lootbox purchases. The thing about lootboxes is, however, that they're designed to act in the same way as gambling devices (such as slot machines), so as to subconsciously encourage users to acquire more. Riot is taking advantage of that for the sake of profit and profit only, and in a game targeted at people as young as 13 no less.

No, they're trying to mimic Gucci/Chanel/Hermes/LV's marketing tactics. Basic looking items being sold at a ridiculous price because they look expensive and they have a certain name attached to them. The difference here is, that Riot are not a luxury brand and the item that they want to advertise as luxurious is digital. Therefore their marketing idea is stupid and the only people who will fall of this OBVIOUS SCAM are the little brainwashed apes of the world, tricked into thinking yellow pixels in their game will grant them higher social status.

Also, your opinion is popular. And you're not going to get downvotes, because every decent person on here can see the scam that are the "Prestige" skins.
