There is no asia in LoL,so if you ask "is she asian or ionian?"then the answer would be ionia since asia doesn't exist in runeterra.

Sona was indeed born in ionia,which would make her by real-life standards most likely asian. However ionia mixes several asian cultures,like japan,china,korea and india(probably some else that i am forgetting),so it'd be hard to say what she'd be out of those in real life.
