The Climb: League of Legends Cinematic
Behold! Not really lore related, but far more lore accurate than similar cinematics in the past. Featuring Yasuo, Taliyah, Ekko, Blitzcrank, Miss Fortune, Lucian and Thresh!

Holy shit, this is amazing. It's so nice to see Taliyah be part of this.
Looks like all the champs a trying to climb upward with some occasionally falling down. I guess to reflect the theme of climbing in Ranked.
Gets inspired!

awesome cinematic. I think the one who's attacking taliyah is xerath :)
ok i'll congratulate Riot on making probably one of the most absurdly epic cinematics i've seen in a while. i would have wished for a more new-dawn esque cinematic where everyone's actually all interacting but this was really cool. the music was top-notch.
and for giving Yasuo realistic asian features!!! also the blitz laugh was a nice touch, and how well animated the tentacles were. felt like something out of dead man's chest.
Did... did
just died in the cinematic? Because I fail to see how she could get out of that alive.
I mean, it's not just the drowning or even the tentacle. Is the onslaught of Shadow Isles spirits that get over her just when the scene transitions into
.
Edit: Now I realize that's even worse, because rewatching, I thought: "And how she pretends to fire a flintlock pistol underwater?".
Shout-out to Riot, this is one of the best cinematics they've ever done.
The animation quality is amazing (up there with A Twist of Fate and surpassing A New Dawn,) the champion showcase was diverse (was not expecting low-key champs like Taliyah and Blitzcrank to see some screen time!) all of the little behavioral details we get throughout the action sequences really brought the characters to life (Blitzcrank's laugh and Yasuo playing the flute were nice touches for example,) and the music was great - extremely memorable and hype-inducing.
Just an all-around fantastic cinematic; my only major complaint is that it felt too short! It could've been so much more! That and I would've loved to see Xerath and Illaoi get some on-screen focus - but I'll be damned if I didn't admit that I'm just happy with what we've got.
I've probably watched around 10 times now - but the more I rewatch it, the more I wonder about the immense potential behind a League TV series, movie series, various spinoff games and so on. Riot's managed to create the biggest game in the world and has an amazing cast of characters to support it... but with each and every new cinematic or major lore update they release, I can't help but get this growing feeling in my gut that Riot's wasting such a potentially huge IP with a mere MOBA title. When will they ever do more with it? Will we ever get an AAA RPG game set in the League-verse that allows us to explore its world and factions? Will we ever get a movie series, or even better - a Netflix series that allows us to see these champions develop in some sort of Marvel Universe or GOT-esque narrative? Or comics and novels that actually push the lore FORWARD, rather then going nowhere? I mean, you can't give your players high-quality cinematics like this and not expect them to ask for something more outside of their MOBA title and its occasional esports events.
Riot, please - start doing something NEW and DIFFERENT with League of Legends, and soon. Not saying this as a spoiled and inconsiderate player, but as a fan who would love to see this franchise soar in new directions. You're sitting on a golden goose IP, yet all of these years have passed and you still haven't bothered expanding it outside of the esports scene. Stop twiddling your thumbs and "experimenting with ideas" before it's too late and you miss your window of opportunity to do so.
Best cinematic so far. Love it. I can't even begin to imagine the hard work and talent that went into this.
Yasuo in this cinematic before he Windwalls has literally my team's Yasuo's map awareness
Epic animation. Especially loved the Blitzcrank BM, the Ocarina of Time Link scream from Ekko, and the pure Lucian badassery. That man was a pure beast.
I'd be excited to see Shen in a cinematic like this, fighting off hordes of spirits or even battling Zed. Maybe even a standoff with Jhin. Who knows.
's in that trailer. I've got a lot of questions to be talking about.
somehow, secretly, he blows up in mind of excitement and you for such a character.

FUCK YES! I've always wanted to see Thresh in a cinematic, even briefly. He looks so badass.
ekko didnt have mana to ult rofl
The no.1 thing I've always liked about League is the art and lore behind the game.
I still keep on hopping for a tv series or a big book about runetera.
But please don't make a movie even if you have good writers you cannot cram all of this lore, over 130 champions and satisfy its fans in just a 2 hour movie.
There are alot of characters I love your designs and lore on but never enjoyed playing as them like Yasuo but I cannot lie that I love how riot handles him in cinematics and everything heck i even like some fanart of him.
why is this dude not involved if there is a literal army of shadow isles monsters swarming Lucian. I’m salty that it was just Lucian v Thresh and not Lucian, Yorick, Maokai, and Kalista vs. Karthus, Mordekaiser, Hecarim, Thresh, and Elise?
There goes Riot, reminding me why I play my main in the first place.
I love this reckless idiot, and they nailed him here.
Love the new cinematic.
Sad that there is no Sion.
I think Xerath is in there too, I'm pretty sure those are his Ult shots that Taliyah is dodging in her section of the cinematic.
Never knew arcane barrages were that weak. Not the turning rocks to lava strikes I have remember...
insanely good animation in this video. I loved it, please do more of this quality riot
Really good.
I wish we'd see Xerath though ^^
I want to know what Lucian is using to get such a sweet attack speed ;)
Everything looked so good! I especially liked Taliyah's scene. Everything looked so fluid and flowed so elegantly. She was manipulating the environment with such grace and beauty. It was amazing.
I wish Blitzcrank actually looked like that in-game.
why is illaoi fighting MF? i remember them being on good terms during their story
So they have the time to make cinematics, but cba making a decent game? okay lol.
Don’t get me wrong I love the video, but if it’s supposed to commerate the new season, why so lore heavy? The past ones made more sense.
