As it stands J4 is kinda of redundant, He is so much like Garen at a glance that he comes off as a OC mary sue,

Garen is a noble? Jarven is a Prince!

Garen has a thing for Kat? J4 is so kewl all the babes want him,

This isn't all true, but it comes off that way, So what can we do about this? Simple, make J4 Garen's antithesis within Demacia, While Garen is a morally strong man whose Patriotism drives him to be good loyal honorable and even kind, J4's drives him to do questionable things, Like manipulate others,

For example, If Iona calls for aid in war, he will send it! on the condition they become a demacian colony,

This also helps him play the rival to Swain better by making them not so different underneath it all,

i like to picture jarvan being complete bro's with garen in the sense that they have the same principles (both are the "essence" of what is good) however since jarvan is the prince, he is more aware of things outside of battle, making him come off as grim in the "jesus man - i have seen some shit" kinda way.

easiest way to put it: garen knows what he see's/told and jarvan is forced to see the whole picture and knows the weight his actions can bring. his only "character flaw" would be he is too quick to think his actions through when family/friends are in trouble and when he acts out as a friend instead of a leader in those situations, that's when things go south.

all in all jarvan is pretty much the bee's knee's in my eyes. i hope riot does alot of things with him - badass as possible too !!
