Every league female should be a bombshell because...?

This whole Fiora uproar, for the splash not the other grievances, is reminding me of the Katarina splash update. What is with everyone up in arms that female splashes are getting redone and aren't carbon copy overly "pretty" females?

We've got plenty of beautiful, sexy, hot, pretty for anyone to awe over. There are also quite a few tough cookies thrown in there. Riot has done some good with diversifying the female pool in terms of face, (but that bust-to-waist-to-hip ratio is a mainstay) And as for Fiora, I've been seeing a lot of "ugly", "old", "manly" comments being thrown around.... Going by only her classic splash art she does indeed look quite aged already as in early 30s the least with a strong protruding jawline and a not-so-pretty demeanor. Her rework splash really highlights her features and makes her quite distinguishable on the minimap in fights(half a face full of hair is hard to see on the map) along with giving off the vibe that she's vying for honor whilst showing off her aristocratic, haughty upbringing.

Just like the Katarina splash update and Janna splash update they're being reflected in a way that's true to their descriptions. You should really look past the "vanity" of these updats and more as to what goals in thematic they're accomplishing.

Whether it's an arrogant woman eager to prove her worth Fiora A cold blooded killer driven by battle Katarina Or an magically imbued human whose risen to etheral being status Janna Riot's art team is doing a good job in merging the backstory and overall feel of the characters into these new splashes and updates.

Should they apologize when you can't ooogle and oggle over them in loading screens now as pin-up perfect ladies? I think not...

May I also point out, that Riot has received CONSIDERABLE complaints about overly sexualized females in their games? Now people are complaining that she is ugly? REALLY?

This is why there are so many games (im not kidding here) that just don't have female characters. No matter what they look like, people will complain.

See, I'm all for diversifying female champions, but not an existing one. Fiora is supposed to be a young, haughty genius fencer, not my friend's rich evil michael jackson step mom look alike. The problem is that the splash/models are changing Fiora's core identity and it's a huge slap in the face for those of us who already love her.

That said, we do need an old lady champ/ female monsters, etc. (but leave Fiora young and beautiful)

Are you telling us you think Kalista is attractive

Ectasyy7/23/2015, 2:58:58 PM5 votes

well i never had much of an issue with Katas it still looks like kata but not as good as her original splash. ... But the one they say is fiora looks nothing like fiora. It looks more like LB. That's why its a big deal. each champ has thier signature look. Tristana, ahri, kata, janna... you can obviously tell who they are. that new splash that's for fiora looks like LB trying to dress up to be like fiora for Halloween. No reason to have to change a champ that much. Leblanc

It's a little funny how I've not heard a single complaint about the male characters from the male community.

I remember when Braum came out, instead of people saying "OMG! His muscles are too huge! Why do male champs have to be so muscly and strong all of the time?" People were like "Now that is a man! Look at that mustache!"

Be glad you have not witnessed the outrage with the Seju VU. There were seriously people who defended her "battle bikini". I personally find the new outfit so much better than I never use the traditional skin...

Just leave the female design to IronSylus and we'll be fine ^^

Fiora is a beloved character with a significant fanbase. She has several unique aesthetic features in her original model which have become iconic to her.

The vast majority of these aesthetic features were changed. Whether or not she looks better now is up for debate, but she doesn't pop off the screen like she once did - and she doesn't resemble the Fiora that I fell in love with.

I'm all for non-sexualised champs. I guess. Frankly, sexy game characters do nothing for me ( ;p ) - but Fiora had a lot of aesthetic designs that I liked. I now can't point to a single element that remains of those aesthetes.

That's kind've gut-wrenching. I dunno if everybody else complaining feels a similar way and, perhaps, is having trouble vocalising it - but that's what tore me up. My second-favourite character design has been replaced with sleek blandness topped by awkward pauldrons. =P

Her new sword's nicer. I suppose.

You know, you probably right. Why is there no UGLY females in the league, thats really discrimination. I wanna see my beloved heroes be ugly! There also almost no ugly males in the league too ( exept for Urgot ) , and thus no one for me to connect to! Also they all Annie Irelia Leona Lissandra Lulu Orianna Poppy RekSai Riven Sejuani Shyvana Taric Tristana Diana look like sluts right? Especially that SCANDALOUS Leona pool party skin.

People are yet complaining again about things changing, because they can't take it. There was a huge uproar when Sejuani got her visual update, there were complains about Katarina 's splash art change. It can be pretty much broken down to people complaining that the new art styles makes the female champs less fapable. Pretty sad actually. Just look at the downvotes for this thread already. These kids will never change.

A big problem that I see with many of the female characters that their faces look really similar if you'd make them bald and removed their makeup. Recently they tried to change this and I think that is actually the right decision, because honestly I don't see the gain in having the same face on every so many champs, its just boring.

That said however I think the Fiora splash did need the update and might still need a few tweaks.I guess it is better to not go overboard with these changes and still remain somewhat true to the original as well. Its just a bit hard to hit the right mark between "new and unique" and "still appealing to those who play the character".

I think the actual ingame model has a rather good face http://www.newsoflegends.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Fiora-Gameplay-and-visual-Update-banner.jpg It still looks sharp and unique, without looking so "old"

Also I think that the face of royal guard fiora is messed up eitherway,it just looks unfinished.

DrCyanide7/23/2015, 3:59:01 PM1 votes

I think there are two major issues with the splash art:

  1. The hair. Black with pink, combined with the hair not covering her face, combined to make the new splash not look like Fiora at all.
  2. The pose. As my wife put it, the old Fiora splash art looked like she was ready to duel you (and win), while the new one looks like she's more concerned with throwing her breasts in your face and balancing a petal on her sword than actually being a worthy opponent.

We saw the same type of reaction when the splash art for Kayle was changed, putting her in a weak pose attempting to look sexy (?) and showing off her armor boobs. We'll likely see the same reaction when Leona's splash art gets altered. The reactions are in strong opposition because they're taking some of the least sexualized women in the game and sexualizing them in their splash art updates.

The irony is that there are people like you who are getting upset about the community critiquing her face while ignoring the greater blunder that Riot made with the body.

Because she was fine before.

We're not comparing she looks less bombshell were comparing the rework is a fucking travesty. Her face is Malficent's, her pose is a bit weird, her new models are fucking atrocious and her Royal Guard skin was butchered into this horrid thing they pass off as an upgrade.

Should they all be bombshells no.

Should they ruin a character who's not superhot hell fucking no. She was beautiful but not a super bombshell like Sona or Miss Fortune. Meh.

There's a difference between not a bombshell and butt ugly.
