Fiora VU vs Current Fiora

So I'm personally in the camp of "I really like Fiora's VU" yet my opinion is apparently not echoed by a majority. I don't mind, everyone's got their opinions, but I figured since everyone's jumping at the opportunity to talk about this, I'd share my thought after some consideration.

So current Fiora is a champion who I think looked really sexy. I think it was actually her face that drew me in and that strip of red in her hair. She's a beauty, with a gorgeous face, slender body, nice butt, she looks great. Her design was also pretty great in terms of clothing too. The three part drape thingy-ma-bobby on her shoulder was a really cool design element, and the stuff she wears over her body suit is clean and sharp. It's a great design.

But I like Fiora's VU more. Why?

Well I'll go through the different parts. Firstly the clothes. They're actually really nice and look more naturally than what she wore previously. They look comfortable, well made, pretty grand and above all, refined. I'm gonna keep going back to that word. Her garb looks more refined now, as opposed to her snazzy, sexy outfit before. She actually looks very noble, very royal in my eyes, and I approve of this more than the body suit.

Next up is the thing people seem to despise; her face. I love it. For one thing she looks a bit older, and I kinda dig that. Fiora being in her early to mid thirties? Hell yeah, I can dig it. Her facial features look very sharp and defined, and it makes her look stronger to me. Stronger as a woman, as an individual, as a personality and as a duelist. Hers is the face of a duelist who is not so much cocky as she is confident and bold. This also adds to that noble and royal feeling and described before; she seems more like a figurehead; the head of a family (which she is), a woman of high standing (which she is). She looks stronger than she did before, and I think that's the key difference. Current Fiora is young, brash, cocky, sexy and deadly. VU'd Fiora looks a bit older, confident, bold, beautiful and powerful. To put it in a less eloquent way, current Fiora is a sexy lady to me. VU'd Fiora is a beautiful woman, and this Fiora is actually sexier to me because of that.

So those are my thoughts, and to kinda condense it all: I think personally that VU'd Fiora is great and makes her less sexy lady and more powerful woman, more of a strong, confident and noble person. VU'd Fiora is the one who I'd give the title of "Grand Duelist" to, rather than current Fiora, and this comes from someone who does actually like Fiora's current look.

Her outfit is more stylized now, which is to say that her formerly practical-looking, more subdued armour was changed into goofy cartoon armour with impractical jagged parts, made of some sort of material that no armour has ever been made out of. Her outfit is just as form-fitting, but her new armour is less sleek and "refined".

Fiora was always the "youngest" child of the Laurent family, her being a young woman was part of her background. She was a daddy's girl who had the pedestal she built for her father destroyed when she discovered he was a dishonorable cheat. Furthermore, you say that Fiora looking more confident, power, and self-assured is a good thing and reflective of her character, but is this really the case? What is Fiora's motivation? She feels that her family's reputation was tarnished by their father's actions, and is fighting to prove her name's worth by becoming the most skilled duelist in Valoran. The thoughts and opinions of others actually mean a lot to Fiora, her motivation is actually driven by very insecure and human feelings. She is proud and even maybe arrogant, but she still feels she has something to prove. Look at the old Fiora's splash art. You're right, she doesn't look as confident, haughty, or powerful as the new Fiora. And that is because Fiora feels there is still something she needs to prove and is plagued by the shame her father brought onto her house. She's fighting to prove that her name has meaning.

But none of this matters. All that matters is that the new Fiora doesn't really look like the old Fiora. Her design has been changed for reasons I can't really figure out. The design team was bored, I guess? I don't know. No one complained about Kassadin's VU because it was just an update on the same champion. Why wasn't Fiora's the same?

I'm fine with her new armor for the most part. It's just the face I can't stand. You could cut bread with her cheekbones. As much as I love the current Fiora splash/model (which is one of my favorites) I'll like the new one of Riot fixes her face.

The new Fiora art is terrible.

Tell me, Ironstylus; why does the youngest child of House Flaurent and a rival of Lux (who is barely 20-24) look like a really athletic 40-yr old?

I really dislike that Fiora is being changed. Since playing her from season 2 onwards, I have 0 interest in the VU Fiora. Mostly because she doesn't even look like the same person, and her color scheme is NOT FIORA. The first skin she has, the one with the hat, that one changed and now I hate it. That use to be my favorite skin, it's honestly a pain to deal with these visual updates when the original design is completely scrapped and tossed away.

What's to say you won't edit Spirit Guard Udyr? Or change Ryze to look like someone who isn't Ryze?

If you're going to VU a champion, keep her original design, and make it better, don't scrap it. Think of all the fan art that people are going to say "Who in the hell is that?!". You're really making a mistake to the player base by changing these champions too drastically.
