Shyvana's lore gives insight into Sol's
Okay, so we know that Aurelion Sol is interested in Runeterra. Runeterra is the place where Targon enslaved him (even though it's not the Targon homeworld), and we suspect that it's also the place that holds the key to his freedom. So let's talk about Ryze.
Ryze is trying to collect and contain the World Runes, immensely powerful magical artifacts that, even in good hands, could destroy the planet.
In Shyvana's new lore, we learned that dragons aren't just magical creatures. Their power and abilities are runic in origin. I get that runes and World Runes are far away from each other in terms of power level, but the connection is still there.
A while ago, I was wondering what (if anything) would be able to stop Sol if he just decided one day to destroy Runeterra. At the top of that list was the power of World Runes, but I decided that World Runes are too… terrestrial in origin to beat Sol. I may have changed my mind a little.
Aurelion Sol says that "All terrestrial dragons are but pale imitations of my kind." This suggests that, even though leagues apart, terrestrial dragons are still similar to the Cosmic variety. So when I read that terrestrial dragons are basically powered by something of runic origin, it got me thinking. What if "rune is to World Rune" as "dragon is to Cosmic Dragon?" If that's too close, we could add in a level after World Rune, like… uh… Cosmic Rune or something. Anyway, what I'm getting at is that World Runes might be the key to both Sol's enslavement and his freedom. They may be powerful enough to be on his level. That was a lot of words to say not a lot of things. Geez, Tattersall, get it together.
