Thoughts on Nocturne's character?

With all the new lore, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on Nocturne's character is; and by character I mean his motivations, alignment, purpose and place in the world of Runeterra.

My opinion/thought/hope is that he functions similarly to the Shadow from "Amnesia: the Dark Descent" he hunts down those that become too strong magically regardless of good or evil and incidently balancing the world in the process, the same way sharks balance the ocean. He doesn't do for any reason other than instinct, the same reason most people would stomp the big cockroaches if roach scuttled out in front of them.

So as I said, I was wondering if anyone else had some headcannon or opinion on who Nocturne is
