The one element I want to remain in Aatrox’s character

I want his “war for the sake of war” motivation to remain core to his personality. It really sets him up as someone you can’t bargain with, something you can’t beg or plead to, a force that is not human. It sets him apart from humanity as the normal order of motivation is “goal is obtained by action” which means an ordinary human sets goals and take action to achieve those goals; in a character like aatrox where “goal is action” it allows him to be complete logically and rational while being totally chaotic simultaneously.

His current play style (although we’ll see if the new kit does) also reflects this core principle because when all you desire is violence then it doesn’t particularly matter if you survive, so his kit is all about diving in and staying in come hell or high water.

We’ll honestly have to wait for the update but the tag line about vengeance in his blurb just doesn’t sit right because I can’t imagine Aatrox losing his temper over a defeat in war or caring much about his people’s destruction. He’s too indomitable and focused. Aatrox has battles to plan and massacres to create. Aatrox is the one from whom pantheon stole his title. Aatrox is what Jhin wishes he was. Vengeance is varus’ thing

Aatrox Some fight for honor, Some fight for glory. It matters only that you fight

Vengeance is varus' thing

This 100%. It would suck if all the Darkin ended up being "generic vengeful" personalities. it was nice that Aatrox was "methodical war for the sake of war," Rhaast is "chaotic slaughter" and Varus is "vengeance for the killing of his people." However, if we make both Varus and Aatrox fueled by vengeance, then the characters lose pretty much all uniqueness in their personalities.

Sadly, if Aatrox is now "generic vengeance personality #105" then it's already way too late for Riot to change it, considering the voice lines are already recorded... All we can do is wait a couple days for his rework to appear on PBE to see if they made his personality Varus 2.0 or not :/

In general I think that vengeance will play a role in all of the darkins stories to some point.

Though I don't think it'll be such a huge part of the character for anyone but Varus,so I could imagine that while Aatrox might have bigger plans to take revenge on humanity,he'd still do what he does even if he didn't have a reason.

sorry but Aatrox is now a crazy killer man than a wise killer icon

Hesitation is death

Pain is temporary. Victory is forever.

I know a lore update is gonna come with his Rework-VGU and it's gonna suck. In his trailer he feels more like a combo of Rhaast and Varus; slaughter and revenge. I feel like nothing describes what he should be more than his quotes for Tryndamere wiki link "Tryndamere, my greatest creation." "This one's rage will shape the world." Aatrox should want War just to have War Rhaast should want Slaughter just to have Slaughter Varus (seriously can we get "Vaarus" to be his name please?) should want Revenge on mankind just to have Revenge

Vengeance isn't Varus's thing any more.

well in all honesty i dont want darkins to be characterized by one word ; sure the initial motivation of Aatrox can be ''war for the sake of war '' , however if through his interactions with the other inhabitants of runneterra remains unchanged then he will just become a weak/uninteresting character. Character growth and Complexity are important for every sentient being in the world of league of legends with the only exceptions being primordial entities like demons and ''gods'' like nagakebouros.

Note # 1 : i dont imply that all champions must change in the current time of the story.A characters growth can be depicted through ''flashbacks '' like in xeraths case.As far as we know Aatrox had the mindset ''war for the sake of war'' since the beginning thus making some form of growth necessary!

Note # 2 : Darkins must not embodie concepts like war or vengence because that would make them almost identical to demons.

By the nature of defining the Darkin over the years, Aatrox cannot remain as this chaotic being without any goals other than to feed during wars - that makes him just like Kench and Evelynn, who DO create situations to spur emotions so that they can feast.

Aatrox is a Darkin, and the Darkin are an imprisoned alien species, trapped in weapons from their loss at the great war before memory. Aatrox may have been a general in that war or something, or a highly skilled soldier, but his being imprisoned for millennia by the Runterran people will have made him furious and seeking vengeance. He may probably exact that vengeance by sowing the seeds of war where he travels, causing humans to kill themselves as his way of getting back at them for obliterating his species and trapping the rest. So he'll have goals now tied to his thirst for revenge against Runeterra for the humiliating loss of the Darkin, but he won't just be an aimless traveler creating war for no purpose.

Of course, there is potential that Riot COULD make him more interesting by having Aatrox having had overtaken the body of a demon of the world instead of a human - which could account for his stranger thirst for blood and the need to manipulate the emotions of people through war that Varus doesn't seem to have.
