New Star Guardian Skins - Unpopular opinion(?)

Ok everyone, Hold up.

I'm gonna throw out a few of my opinions on the new Star Guardian skins & why I personally like them. To begin with as far as I can tell, every skin is known to have a somewhat mini-storyline, these are usually seperate to the main lore of any given champion, hence the reason for unique dialogue upon encountering certain champions & skins in game. I don't follow lore at all & only did so when there were YT channels that created videos that broke down lore (I miss those days); however there is clearly a direction & story with these skins & it is a darker tone compared to what the Star Guardian skin line is predomanently known for. I for one am very excited, not paricularly for the new skins in question but that is solely because I do not play these champions.

Now unto the colour scheme. It is understood that darker tones, especially the deep blues, blacks & Purple are used to emphasize the understanding of something being evil, so there is bound to be some overlap considering the sheer amount of skins in game. Just to name a few you have Syndra's base skin being predominately purple, Void champions are purple & Dark star is again purple & that is going to be the main talking point for why I'm defending the new Skins. Both SG & DS skins share the theme of space, there are others like the cosmic skin line sharing the same theme & hence why you see overlapping features that mainly consist of stars & dust like paricles in the skin lines themselves. Now when you consider the name 'Star Guardian', it's nice and all that & the previous skins reflect the idea that they are I guess protecting stars or in the vaguest of ways, protecting something. They each have a sigil representing a star in the skins & brighter skin tones reminiscent of what one would imagine a Star Guardian to look like.

Now it is easy for the skin line to remain this way until the end of time but I've always commended and considered the art & story team to be smart, especially when compared to the balance team. As such, considering that there's a story in each skin line & the name Star Guardian entails that they're protectors, it is easy to assume that they have enemies and at this point in time the new skins take on this turning point of tainted Star Guardians. If you pay attention to the recalls of Xayah & Rakan they clearly outline this new ark in the story of the Star Guardians. They both have colours that represent the corrupted versions of the SGs but at the end of their recall animations it is again clearly shown that they are able to be influenced into being good & or bad, which is why you see them changing forms at the end of their recalls. I for one, find it interesting & a good deviation from the original skin line & it makes me look forward to what they have in store for other SG champion concepts in the future, which is surprising even for me because I never cared about the SG skins because their girly tone just didn't appeal to me personally.

With the whole Dark Star & SG colour overlap, I think there are ways it could've been avoided with using accents of White & black or White & Purple instead of the blend of blue, black & purple that is basically Dark Star. On a surface level it is easy to understand the frustration of people that are really into the SG skin line & even I thought they looked similar at a glance & quite honestly they Do! Then again I think we need to be understanding both from a visual & story perspective as to why it may have caused issues in the development of the skins as opposed to it being a low effort remake of the DS skins; that obviously (most likely) wasn't the intention and like I said, they both share the theme of a space-esque universe. But not to be cast away, the new SG skins have notable differing features when compared to the Dark Star skins that separates the two - the music during recalls & I assume new unique voice lines reveals as we get closer to the release date. Now I know for one that I would never buy the previous Star Guardian skins but if I happen to pick up any of these champions aside from Neeko I would strongly consider buying a SG varient of this kind. The music sounds bomb, the story is interesting and not to be overlooked - the SKINS LOOK GREAT! That is just my opinion at the end of the day though :p P.S. Make one for Kindred. tyvm :)
