I was reading the new Harrowing stuff that you can see from the PVP.net Client. I just wanted to make sure I have things right or wrong, just some informative info. So Gp and Mf have some sorta Lovers pact and are bonded together under the excuse of this harrowing mystery shit goes down and 25 or so years later Hec is roaming the place. Tbh the events here as well as leading up to this had me a bit bugged out, seems vague. But I wanted to ask about the concepts of summoners and champions. I've played this game since season friggin 1 and I never really thought this as an important question but getting into reading the lore recently only leaves me more confuzzled. They are all chosen from 1 world I used to think 1 time slot but with Jayce and all these Piltover people I'm guessing not. So geographic wise how does this crap work out. If they were all gathered like I assumed they were then what is the importance of their homelands, they must be stuck on this rift forever no? This fkin content is jus weird to me thats all it feels like something is missing but I cant grasp it. What am I missing. Gp's unborn child Romeo?

Summoners, the fields of justice and the institute of war are no longer canon in the fiction of Runeterra and will no longer have stories about them, even though they still make up the game. Welcome to the current story boards, it's a bit of a mess with a lot of us complaining and arguing against this, a smaller amount of people arguing in favor and narrative just being silent while releasing meager amounts of lore, safe for Reborn, Unbound and Arisen.

Boards links: Retcon Arisen Unbound Reborn

Personally, I feel like the lore is a mess and narrative is trying to get it sorted out quickly, not skimping out on retconning characters whenever they feel a new one fits them better. Poor Trundle has already been lost, replaced by this brute that only resembles old Trundle slightly. It also means there's a lot of flashbacks going on to get the history of valoran in order (oh, and the map of valoran is no longer canon).

Lovers Pact? No, not at all. They were just teamed up. Gangplank is constantly described as the only man in Bilgewater who can resist MF.

And yes, it's all at one time. Piltover just has advanced weaponry, Jayce is an inventor, so he makes his own cutting edge stuff.

The way it used to work is that the Champions were part of a League that settled political disputes between nations through non-lethal combat. These champions were magically summoned to fight, could be revived on death, and just went until the Nexus blew up and one team was victorious. Then they all went back to whatever they were doing beforehand. This was implemented to stop war in Runeterra, because of some ancient wars that really screwed up the landscape.

That's all gone now, so the in game battles are now not related to Lore at all. They're just "what if" scenarios.
