but is jhin a robot or something? the more i listen to his voice an look at his body parts i feel like a good chunk of him has been replaced by machine

This is the right spot!
Jhin's not a robot. His gun, whisper, has a crazy amount of recoil, and so he has protective armour on his arm and legs to help deal with that. The mask just makes him sound weird.
