Just curious if these 2 know each other. I’ve recently over the last few months started getting more into the lore as things have been updated and expanded. I dont exactly remember both of their purposes but they were both corrupted by the void.
Pale Mask3 votesMalzahar is the high priest of a cult dedicated to worshipping the Void. Kassadin is an enemy of the Void, and hunts the creatures it creates. They're both corrupted, but use their powers for different purposes.
They were rivals in the old lore, where Malzahar sacrificed Kassadin's daughter (now implied to be Kai'Sa) to the Void.
Oleandervine2 votesYes, but in the new lore, they don't know each other, and Riot really sterilized their rivalry. Now, Malzahar just opened a void hole in Kassadin's village for the hell of it, which is how Kai'Sa got trapped for 10 years. Since Kassadin's return, he's upset and seeking him out, but there is no personal relationship between them.

And on that note, neither Kai'Sa or Kassadin in any of their lore or lines acknowledge each other as parent and child, which is another bizarre sterilization on Riot's part.

In the new lore... I don't know. Kassadin has heard of a weirdo leading people into Icathia and speaking of the Void as if it is salvation, and he is very much opposed to the agenda of this mad Shuriman... but the rest is yet to be confirmed.

Oleandervine2 votesYeah, think Darth Vader, his inspiration. Vader was corrupted by the dark side, but it never fully corrupted, so there was good left in him. Kassadin is a step further in that he didn't commit evil deeds, despite having been partially corrupted, and uses his corruption to fight that same evil.

He called in every favor he could, from scholars of antiquities to common smugglers, for their help in… acquiring what he sought. Many called him a madman, believing this the last time they would ever see their old friend alive—Kassadin merely thanked them for their concern, and bid them farewell. He would face the Void alone.

We aren't sure about Pantheon or Zoe because the former works differently than the other aspects taking control of the host entirely and Zoe has some reality bending powers that may make her more powerful than the Ascended
