Miss Fortune: Lore Vs. Game

MissFortune Miss Fortune is one of those characters who, as Riot has developed her lore-wise, has felt more and more of a disconnect between her portrayals in lore pieces released for events, and her in game iteration. I feel the recent Star Guardian skin is what reminded me of this fact, but, one could simply chock that up to a problem many skins bring about; a disconnect between champion lines and skin thematic.

SKINS aside though, Miss Fortune's in game voice over, model and more don't fit any of the portrayals of her in recent promotional materials we've seen at all. One need only look to Riot's test animation of her, and the written works involving her from the Gangplank event. She seems to be more of a hard, unbreakable and fearless leader type, while in game, she's basically just a really attractive pirate hunter with two guns. She utters gloriously outdated and out of character lines such as, "Nothing but powder monkeys.", and, "Sure you can handle me, summoner?"

Sexiness isn't the problem here, as some may suspect, it's the fact that her entire character currently revolves around the fact that she's an attractive, seductive pirate in game- hell, her w is STRUT. In the lore pieces, she's still drop-dead gorgeous, but she's the type to choke you for under-estimating her based on assuming she's just a pretty face, and I personally feel that's even better. Riot's clearly steered away from that in-game persona for MF in the lore, so my question is, when will we see a relaunch/in game update that helps her reflect this new personality/thematic?

MF's seductive act plays into her current lore pretty well, actually.

Her whole scheme is manipulating people, she manipulates Graves into chasing Twisted Fate, which results in the gathering on the Dead Pool that allows her to blow Gangplank sky high. What we see in game is her act, she pretends that she really is just a pretty face, when she's actually one of the smartest and most accomplished champs on the roster. She smothers her actual tragic past and lust for revenge behind innuendos and faux playfulness, and doesn't let her true colors shine through until she has a pistol at someone's head.

I do think some changes would be good, though, since most players sadly don't really read the written lore and won't get to see the "real" MF. Unfortunately getting VA's back for champs that old is very difficult, so it might not be feasible without a full VGU.

Over the years she got: -New lore -New updated model -Gameplay update

Now we're missing a Legendary skin, along with a new voiceover like Lux got. MF has been in the game since the begining anyway.

MF is all about wearing a mask of a harmless bounty hunter. A woman who is gorgeous, but unthreatening.

This fits with her current voiceover. What lies beneath comes out when she uses Bullet Time. She is crazy, and all about doing whatever it takes to get what she wants.

If she ever gets an update to her VO, I'm sure they'll add some references to the "true" Sarah Fortune. But for now, this isn't a WRONG representation of her, it's just not the whole picture.

I love mf, but many peopple that don't read the lore have told me that they hate her because she seems so shallow and she's just a pretty face, because just in lore we see the genious she is

Some people pointed it out already, it fits her even with her lore. Did you read the stories back in the time of burning tides? There was a scene where she was joyfully partying with pirates in a pub, all while planning to kill Gangplank.

She is wearing a mask permanently. She wants to be seen as the pretty, weak girly. Because that makes people underestimate her. That is all intended. I can agree that she could use some voicelines showing that aspect though, making her sometimes put down that mask and show her true self.

BUT I would postpone that in the far future. She already got alot of attention with a gameplay update, updated model and now she is going to receive updated splasharts. And there are champions in the game with a bigger disconnect from their lore with their voice lines: Blitzcrank Orianna Singed Just to name a few examples.
