Where did this Varus/Darkin Thoery come from?

He has been one of my favorite champions since his release many moons ago, but I am curious about where this new theory came from. I would love to read more about his lore.

In passing, the latest bit of lore released referred to Darkins as "sentient weapons". Well... compare Varus' bow to Aatrox's blade.

Some other similarities to be drawn between Aatrox and Varus - for one, Varus' body is now straying away from being totally human. He's got pale flesh (much like Aatrox's face), glowing eyes with no pupils, seems to be growing some hard, blackened skin on his arms and legs, and his bow has some similarities of texture Aatrox's shoulderblades, where his wings meet his back.

While it isn't canon, there are a wealth of subtle hints at the possibility that the bow Varus wields is a Darkin. While unlikely, it is still very, very cool to think about.

Personally, I liked the idea of Varus' weapon and the abilities it gives him being related to the Void. Given the purple color scheme and tendrils and such.

He was referred to as such, but Aatrox's lore has always been rather ambiguous beyond "likes war" and "made Tryndamere what he is today". Aatrox's title is "The Darkin Blade", so when you think about it is it really all that far off?
