The Age of the Protectorates and the Magelords

Hi There! I don't know if anyone knows much about the Protectorates and the Magelords, but they were a race bent on war with each other before Demacia and Noxus were empires founded in Valoran. I was wondering if anyone knew much information about the two cultures (aside from what is in the League Wiki) because I am trying to get a base knowledge on these two races.

The Protectorate, whose symbol was the Stag, is found in the Summoner's Rift map and represents the Blue Side of the Rift. The Magelords, whose symbol is the Owl, is also found in the map to represent the Red Side of the Rift. There is definitely a potential to explain some history there, and I would love to see it!

Over the future, we'll probably get some more little tidbits about them, through color stories, arc-stories and expanded bios of older champions (like Aatrox).

They may even get their own story-from-the-past sometime. Who knows, we might also get a champion that belonged/belongs to the Protectorates or the Magelords sometime. :P

If I'm honest, I'm trying to create an alternate backstory for one of the current league champions set around the age of the Protectorates and the Magelords. I'm trying to get as much information as I can, but it appears there's only so much to go off haha

The Owl was also a symbol of the Guardians of the Pit of Pallus in Varus' Lore and League Judgement.

That is true Furor Nexis, but the age of the Protectorates and the Magelords was a time before that existed. Ionia is a place rich in magic in this current age, and most likely was back in that age too. It would make sense that Ionia would have fallen under Magelord territory, and as territories split and became independent, sigils from the two major factions were left over in regions all over Runeterra. It is only assumed that Protectorates became Demacia and Magelords became Noxians - however, if these two races were the only two with a major presence in Valoran, then there is a high chance that when their empires split they became the independent factions known today. The ruins in Ionia under the protection of Varus may be ruins created by the Magelords a long time ago, and adopted by Ionians as their own - Ionians may be distant yet direct descendants from the Magelord Empire.
