What is their lore going to be now, before they were just summoned magical constructions controlled by summoners. Now the summoners are gone, so are they the same but have no master now, or is Rito going to release some new minon lore sometime or what? I can almost

Well there is the small "mechs-vs-minions"-story,but I'm not sure if thats considered Canon. I think they refer to them as rather mindless beings that are kept in check by crystals.
I forgot the details though.
That's actually a good question.
If anything, they might have been magical constructs summoned by the Magelords and/or the Protectorate, who are the two ancient factions that each of the Summoner's Rift bases are based on (Red Base for the first, Blue for the latter).
That's just speculation though. :P

Realistically, I can see them being constructs summoned by the Magelords. And even after the battle, the constructs only know one thing to do: fight forward.
Maybe one day there will be an explanation. Perhaps a hero will arise. One who is tired of always being a meatshield for turrets. To no longer be walking sacks of gold to be taken by the enemy. One who has been forsaken and no longer healed by Soraka or shielded by Karma. One who never backs down, even in the face of death.
We have all sorts of wacky champions from around Runeterra. But where is the champion who fights for those who have always been here since the beginning? I would like to see a minion-turned champion (not veigar, he's a yordle). Too many left-overs from the old lore, and Riot just couldn't be bothered with clearing them all up anymore I suppose.
I mean Fiddle's lore is still about the Institute of War....
