Lore Theory: Void creatures are corrupted Celestial Dragons (i.e., dragons like Aurelion Sol)
I have a theory that void creatures are corrupted celestial dragons, or in some way at least heavily-related. Maybe it seems far-fetched at first, but there are really a few pieces of evidence that support this idea.
Let's look at the similarities:
-Celestial dragons and void creatures both have mouths that compose a significant portion of their head -They both generally have big, sharp teeth -Some void creatures as Kog'Maw and Rek'Sai have elongated bodies much like a celestial dragon -Appendages in same locations, similar layout -Aurelion Sol (and presumably other celestial dragons) can lot out a loud, powerful roar full of destructive energy. Well, Cho'Gath can let out a roar that silences, and Rek'Sai roars quite often, even though it is a non-damaging ability. Kog'Maw shoots crap out of his mouth and makes a sound sort of like a baby roar?
And then there's two other things that make me suspect a link between our beloved star dragons and void creatures. First, Dark Star Thresh and Dark Star Varus are presumably related to the void. Notice the name dark STAR. Almost like a corruption, or the inverse of the more luminous stars that celestial dragons create? Heck, check out the Dark Star Thresh teaser trailer. It has a very celestial theme to it, and the face at the end has a very similar structure to Aurelion Sol's face.
The last bit of evidence I want to share is directly from his lore story. In this story, Sol encounters and destroys an active void rift he finds on Runeterra. Sol states:
"This anomalous fissure in the universe entrances me. This is not the first of its kind I’ve had to deal with, but this one feels different, and I can’t help but admire the marvelously terrifying manipulation of the barriers between realms. Few beings could fathom its complexities, let alone possess the sheer magnitude of power needed to rend the fabric of existence. In my heart, I know a wound so exquisite could never be orchestrated by scuttling creatures. No. There must be more behind this intrusion. I shudder at the thought of what kind of entity is capable of inducing such a volatile rift."
First of all - why introduce the theme of void creatures to Sol's lore? It seems so out of place given he already has a strong story connection with Targon. The void creature substory may be playing some hidden meaning that we perhaps do not understand yet. Second, we now know that whatever can create that rift is at least as strong, or even perhaps more powerful than Aurelion Sol. Also through Sol's story, we learn that celestial dragons are indeed tameable, even through crude magic such as Targon's. So, it's not so farfetched to think they could become corrupted into void creatures by more powerful entities.
Thoughts?
tl;dr void creatures are corrupted celestial dragons as evidenced by physiological similarities and lore connections
