Let's Not Forget: We've Seen Other Animal-Like Yordles Before...

Sure, Mortal Reminder isn't canon, but since it came out pretty recently, I think it's easy to say that it's a good teaser at the Bandle City we're going to get. With the recent Yuumi leak, several people are reacting to her being a catlike Yordle with the impression that she can't be a Yordle because of that.

Well, according to what we see of Bandle City in Mortal Reminder, that's not the case whatsoever. We see Yordles based on all sorts of cute furry mammals here, from dogs to rabbits to foxes. And of course, with Fizz being confirmed as a Yordle, we know that Yordles can be even more diverse than just mammalian, since Fizz is an amphibious Yordle, although amphibian-like Yordles seem to be much rarer than their mammalian counterparts for sure. But for all we know, there could even be birdlike or reptilian Yordles out there too.

This could also explain why, if Amumu turns out to be a Yordle after all, he has no visible ears beneath his bandages. Since he's a mummy, it's hard to say if he would have had typical big Yordle ears in life, but it's possible that he could have looked like an animal with very small ears, such as a gerbil.

I really can't wait for the full Yordle update and getting a good look at what Bandle City and all the different Yordles actually look like, besides what we can see of them in this music video. And I'd love for future Yordle champions to give us different types of Yordles too! The brown floppy-eared dog in the music video looks particularly adorable, as does the beige-furred foxlike girl. What sort of new Yordles would you guys like to see down the line, now that we have Yuumi to start spicing things up?

I don't think Yuumi is a Yordle, honestly. She's different, sure, but she's too different. She looks smaller than the Yordles, and she looks to be more animal, and all the Yordles we've seen have been humanoid. Still early to rule it out completely, but still.

That being said, I would like some different Yordles. Maybe a bat Yordle? I'd love that.

I'm definitely betting on her being associated with Bandle City, and bringing the long-awaited yordle lore update. However, I kind of doubt she's an actual yordle, since she doesn't look that humanoid at all. So it brings up a lot of questions about what she is exactly, which I'm excited to find out. Maybe some kind of spirit? Another new species in general? Maybe's she's like Pix, or maybe she was a yordle's pet or something.

The yordles you described in the video sound very interesting though! I would like to see some like those in the game sometime!

At the same time, Bandle City is supposedly a land of whimsy and wacky things being the norm. These talking animals might not actually be yordles, they might be random woodland creatures that fell into portals over the years and became immortal and sentient by being in a place where nothing makes sense. I could see it going either way.

this is how you know the shadow isles is truly evil: launching an attack against innocent cute furry animals. :( sadface

I think it would break down their lore if they start basically dumping everything ambiguous and cute into Bandle City as "NEW YORDLE SPECIES!" Plus, given that they condensed the Meglings and Yordles into the same species in an attempt to make a more cohesive species, it would backtrack on those efforts CONSIDERABLY to just keep plopping new types of Yordles in the game. We've already got two really odd ones - Gnar and Fizz - and Fizz felt forced as hell, so I don't think it would work to keep making more outliers like them.

I would imagine she's either a Yordle witch who's accidentally transformed herself into a cat, similar to Salem from the original Sabrina the Teenage Witch, or she's a Yordle witch's familiar.

The thing is Bandle City is of another realm, full of magic and other-worldy beings so just because a new champion doesn't look like a traditional yordle doesn't mean they're not from BC. Except even yordles vary in shapes and looks because of their glamour.

I see a cat that sounds like zoe and a floating book.
