Looks like Snowdown is Cancelled for This Year

Since the new Elemental arena has just been released, Riot hasn't been able to modify it for the Snowdown arena yet in time for the event. They want to make sure the rift works good in its base form first before modifying it, so instead, we're going to have some sort of Night vs Day event that will probably take place in the Versus universe (?). Given what was said on Reddit, I'd imagine that Snowdown will come back next year once all the main bugs have been squashed and the interface has been smoothened enough for the Rift to be modified properly.

I definitely get why they made this decision, and I would rather they be honest and do something different instead of giving us a half-baked Snowdown, but even still...

I'm a bit sad. I was looking forward to hopefully seeing Snow Day Lee Sin in some kickass snowpants and ski goggles. [cass-cry]

Maybe next year.

No snow map is understandable, but do we not even get new skins or missions? Snowdown isn't just the map...

They didn't have the Swimwear pool skins this year either I thought they was odd so many more female champs to put in bikinis to cash in on. FeelsBad

So, they throw a bunch of crap balancing decisions on the table that have made the game far less enjoyable, we will get no event (other than skins and ORBS) and that is all? Alright...Now I literally want a Rioter to tell me why someone should stick to LoL and not play another game which actually cares about the playerbase while at Riot, the only good department they got left is story/art/sound one which is basically the biggest reason why most players have not yet quit the game

That is really depressing. I hope that it's not completely true and that we at least get some snow themed skins and the return of the legacy winter skins. I don't think Riot has ever missed a Harrowing or Snowdown completely before and having a light/dark themed event instead is kinda out of place and not worth it in my opinion.

Please at least return legacy content for purchase!

I kinda understand where they're coming from when it comes to the Snow-themed Summoner's Rift. With the new "Rise of the Elements" gimmick, they would have to create Snow/Winter themed versions of the 4 elemental maps.

Perhaps it'd be cool if they brought back Nexus Blitz and made a Snowy Map for that Mode instead, that'd be ok in my book.

Yeah I pretty much saw that once Night and Dawn was revealed as the next event, as there was only ONE event left this year. No Pool Party and no Snowdown. They chose to skin them this time :(

So, now that Night vs Dawn is the new event this year. We get the dual Legendaries that appear to be for Soraka, along with Dawnbringer Karma, one for Lee Sin + Prestige and possibly Aphelios since he is released at the same time and they have been giving new champs a skin in the event / holiday themes as their releases.

If that's true about the new map, then why release it before the Snowdown event. Why not do Snowdown, and THEN release the new map? Seems like a not so good excuse.

I don't trust this one bit.

RGM queue has been disabled since the new client launched because of similar reasons(but with the client instead of the rift).

Riot knows that we need a Winter themed map.So due to elemental arena and this shit doesnt mean we wont get a winter sr!

DONT BELIEVE TO ALL LEAKS AND SHIT [slayer-jinx-wink] ALSO RIOT KNOWS WHAT HE DOES IN THE VISUAL/MUSIC/etc
