The new version looks lopsided and off center. I also think the design of the current splash art looks better anyway. When a player purchases a skin, it's sometimes as much for the splash as it is for the character skin.

They're probably changing it because to some players it looks like the "club" is a banner Morde carries on his back, and Riot doesn't want to be accused of creating false expectations
I second this. The new throne looks icky.
Full throne, not "club head" throne, looks far cooler
I like the new version better.
