Considering Viktor's story, I fear for Syndra, LeBlanc, Kassadin.

And pretty much every other champion who has an evil motif going on but with grey morality.

Syndra is the "dark" sovereign, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was changed from a girl driven by immense anger, fuelling powerful magic would suddenly be changed into some girl who's trained all her life to be strong at magic and uses it to destroy Ionians for no reason other than REVENGE!!!

I mean, that's pretty much her story right now, but the nuance is that her motivation is because she was continuously put down and mistrusted with her power, and after shaking off the yoke of oppression Syndra has become the voice of the downtrod and oppressed. She represents potential. I'd hate to see that story twisted into "Syndra would've been evil no matter what happened because she is an evil bi-- woman."

The same goes for LeBlanc (black rose?) who may be retconned into being evil for the sake of being evil, and Kassadin, who looks and sounds like an evil dude but is totally a defender of the innocent... If he suddenly becomes Overlord of the Void, I would not be surprised at this rate.

Some of this is hyperbolic. However, I would like to express that even if Riot's lore team insists on going forward with this new direction where Viktor isn't understandable and sympathetic, but just an evil jackass who kicks puppies because he can, that they avoid similar writing in the future because it is not compelling and, honestly, off-putting from what had been a great character.

Okay, first off, LeBlanc is super evil. She's a mastermind and puppeteer for the Noxian government. She won't be evil for the sake of evil, but she will be evil for the sake of her desires and the goal of the Black Rose.

Syndra is an interesting one. While she was technically a victim, I wouldn't call her "good" or "evil". She's more of a neutral power in Ionia. Likely looking for ways to grow her own strength. I actually totally trust Riot with her story.

And Kassadin won't be evil either, you have nothing to worry about. He's literally the only Void champ who isn't as far as I can think.

Relax, and give them some time with Viktor, too. We're seeing everything from Jayce's perspective. We haven't even gotten to the Zaun dudes yet.

I'm not sure I really agree with Syndra being an example of the repressed and downtrodden. Honestly the way you feared she'd be described is how I see her now.

Syndra has potential to be a very tragic character but I honestly see her as someone who got too much power too young and never learned self control. She's got a floating castle last I checked.

I feel that all she needs is a teacher that is willing to bend or even break tradition if it's for the better. And that person is Karma.

Also Kassadin is one of the most heroic characters in league. He summoned the void for his own nefarious purposes, but soon realized that it was WAAAY too dangerous and too powerful to control as he expected. Being too late to stop, the dude literally absorbed part of the void with him so he could better combat the threat that was coming.

He went from trying to conquer the world with his ambition to trying to save if through self sacrifice. I doubt Riot will make him evil.

Somewhat extreme and not nice? Maybe.

No, it was Jayce's story, with Jayce's perspective. We do not what Viktor had to go through in his story to reach that point in Jayce's, so stop assuming things.

Someone said it in another thread, all we know about Viktor is jayces side of the story, so it's obviously going to seem like he's a crazy villain.

I doubt they would make kassadin evil when we already have malzahar as one of leagues distinctly evil characters.

If they change Syndra's lore they had better keep the part where she wrenches the temple from the ground and suspends it in the sky. That is one of the things that defines Syndra. She pulled up the temple as a symbol of "Yes. I am Powerful. Come near me and you will die."

Kassadin is a good guy. Nothing is misunderstood about the dude, he just uses void powers to get the job done. It's kind of annoying, but consider his circumstances, it's not like he was a given a choice the first place.

The only person that can match and exceed Syndra's power is Xerath. She is second to him only because she has a human body to hinder her whereas Xerath is pure power and is currently still breaking free from his coffin prison. It has been stated that the two are omnipotent, and even that Syndra may be the key to breaking Xerath's prison completely. I forgot which website I saw that on, I think it was Lolwikia or something.

Uhm, LeBlanc is VERY EVIL already unless I am ver much mistaken. While Swain at least has the motive of doing everything for the better of Noxus, LeBlanc has manipulated the Noxus power for generations for the Black Rose's own benefit.

Considering Viktor's lore changes are getting very blown out of proportion and he is still what he was before the update (overall), I doubt this would happen to Kassadin.

Viktor is looking to improve humanity at all costs and stopping anyone who gets in his way. This is still a "moral grey" area since he is doing it all to better mankind. Realize that the opposing force is Piltover, a stuck up city that loves the freedom the city grants to inventors. Of course Viktor, someone who is looking to improve humanity by making them all immortal machines/cyborgs, would seem a villain to Piltover.
