when you're fighting off other people and creatures that are out to kill you there is no time to try to be fancy and combo, you shoot first and then make sure there's nobody else around to trying to kill you, and then you sigh in relief and probably get your ass back to base to spend all that shiny new gold. some champions have a few different auto attack animations, most commonly melee ones with weapons, to show that their weapon has weight and/or momentum so rather than just repeating the same one-sided animation they add animations that swing them in alternating directions. Garen's Q gets its own animation because it has to be able to be distinguished from his normal attacks. same with riven, just adding the weight/swing momentum to her autos and her Q is a 3-part skill so it needs to also be able to be told apart so that everyone knows what part of the skill she's at. Ryze recently got a visual update and rework recently so they might be trying out a few things though its not even a combo its just him just alternating hands or so when auto attacking. most marksmen dont need different animations, they're all usually just aiming and shooting which is all the same repeat process, the usual exception being lucian since he uses two guns and alternates between them when shooting

Garen's Q is 100% shit that have a fucking silence attached to it that stop people from using a skill for 1 sec after that ur dead and it not like they cant just fucking auto attack and just kill u that way, Garen's Q animation don't even belong with a silence he jumps up in the "air" and come down on ur "head" if this wasn't a game this would of 1. cut the ngga inhalf. 2. bash the hell outta them. 3. knock them out if they had a helmet. if this was on the game his Q should "stun" not "silence" people that animation is broking asf Riven is like the only one with a combo but her combo isn't a auto attack its a skill

Riven is like the only one with a combo but her combo isn't a auto attack its a skill

in a sense some people will refer to riven's combo as the specific skill order to use her QWE skills to max her damage, crowd contro, and escape.

most people dont realize taht her W and E are on a much shorter cooldown than her Q and if done properly and used first, they can actually come back OFF cooldown if she uses her Q after, especially if the person is good at managing auto attacks between Q's and can probably go like:

E initiate + auto W stun + auto Q auto, Q auto, Q auto while chasing/fighting

E and W should probably be close to off-cooldown now if they have good CDR and then would be an additional two enhanced autos and one W worth of damage

of course better results ensue with popping ulti prior to engaging.

and I agree with garen's silence being so of place.. but hey at this point i've got few expectations on sense-making and logic from riot

Because animations take alot of reasources, and to many animations would get overlooked.

its fine as its

Animations don't take that much resources in league, considering that league most likely uses 30 key frame animation instead of the more complex methods today. But yea. too much animation is unnecessary for league.

The problem is that most of the time you won't just stand there and continue auto attacking. You'll reposition in a fight after every 2 or 3 hits anyway, which would reset the combo.
