A Second Batch of New Bios!

With the most recent PBE update, we've gotten a whole new batch of updated bios for Champions who had lore on the Universe site, along with some all new pieces of lore that are unheard of. This could mean were going to finally get a bunch of new biographies and color stories! Along with that, we have some new surprising information that may interest all of you!

Brand Was a man named Kegan Rhode, a Freljordian who had betrayed his people and used a WORLD RUNE. This caused his soul to be burned out of his body, leaving Brand to take it over. Now, he roams the world searching for more World Runes to unleash massive destruction on the world. This explains why Ryze seems to have a special connection to him on the Universe site.

Jax is confirmed to be an Icathain 'weapons master,' and the last of his order. After his people unleashed the void on themselves, Jax now searches the world, challenging people to see if they are worthy of fighting alongside him.

Fizz is confirmed to be an AQUATIC YORDLE that lives on the coral reefs near Bilgewater and commands the fearsome sea creatures, can't wait to see what Riot has in store for him!

Nocturne is confirmed to be a demon of sorts that feeds on fear and has 'escaped' the spirit world.

Theres a lot more in here that may be of much interest, but these are some of the most shocking and significant in my opinion. Take a good look for yourselves!

What pisses me off even more is that her and Kayle's once interesting dynamic of clashing ideals was completely removed if you take a look at her sister's updated lore. And Kayle's depicted as the righteous savior of her people.

Like, Riot, is it really THAT hard to give us grey characters? Didn't they learn from the whole disaster that was Viktor and Xerath's lore?

Not every conflict and rivalry needs to have a bad side and a good side. CONFLICT IS NOT BLACK OR WHITE!

Exactly. I truely fear her and Kayle's VGUs in the next year or so reading this. They are going to do some really stupid shit to her I bet.

This has no bearing on what direction we end up taking with the Kayle/Morgana VGU. We are just trying to get to a place where at least every champion has a updated short bio. I imagine when we do get to a Kayle/Morg VGU it will be pretty different then this.

That's cool, but maybe we should get a taste for the new lore first. That way the Lore team has some feedback from the community for the final version? Just a thought, I can't wait to see the new stuff.

We haven't started on the Kayle/Morgana VGU yet so currently there is no new lore.

Just out of sheer curiosity, because the question popped in another thread i ended up answering;

Currently Sona's lore is next to inexistent (which is fine, she's neither alone nor a simple character to write), however, in her old lore the demacian woman who adopts Sona into Demacia (Lestara Buvelle) has been more than mentioned in Quinn's lore update. I can't think that was not intentional as a setup for a later plot point, but it feels odd a character key to a champion's lore gets more spotlight than the champion they're related to.

Some questions, if you can answer them; Is Sona still viewed by Riot as a Demacian-adopted Ionian? Sona-Quinn BFFs confirmed? Is the reason why she floats ever going to be revealed? Could you give us a hint as to how Riot believes her personality to be?

(I was going to ask spoiler-y things but then refrained. Gotta keep the good stuff for story time, right?)

I was wondering this. What if kayle and Morgana were indeed a race of angel-like beings from a place somewhere in the sky. They happen to have a labrenth where they put people to punish which is why Morgana fled. Inside the labrenth is alistar. Boom lore.

And just for some feedback to solidify this: Morgana's new short form bio is super boring and more generic than her old one: Morgana didn't believe in Kayle's particular brand of imposed Order that took the freedoms of life away from her people and thus "fell". That's much more interesting than "she became a dark tormentor!!!" So try not to lean in that direction.

I'm guessing champions like Fiddlesticks, Nunu, Malphite, and Cho'Gath are going to have new lores once they receive their VGUs, correct?

Just saying, I doubt that Riot's going to make it clear black and white. I thought the whole appeal of their characters was that it's specifically very ambiguous and they both have their own reasons. After all, Morgana and Kayle are slated for the first ever Double VGU, so these lore pieces are probably nothing like what they're planning.

Personally, I was thinking that Morgana and Kayle are going to end up being Pure Targonians, like the ones that led the 'conflicts' that Aurelion Sol kept hearing in his head that casued him to break free.

Honestly, I think that that lore is a filler for soon-to-be-updated champs. Right now I just think they're trying to get rid of all mention to the Institute of War rather than actually change any lore in a major fashion.

I mean, think about. Every lore that had no connection to the Institute of War wasn't changed in any major way save Brand.

...I hope so. I want new lores for Irelia, Kayle, and Morgana. And Malphite. Definitely Malphite.

You would noticed all of the Demacian champs who missed their update weren't included as well. So I'm not surprised we're still in the dark about Singed & Twitch.

The issue we have is that Singed has no Bio story/ origins yet, that's where we are left "in the dark" over. Otherwise Singed's character and personality is very apparent based on the link above.

Singed's gameplay is actually very fitting for his personality. He doesn't care about his team nor the enemy and just continues to run around pursuing his own goal.

Riot, I want a reason for Jax to keep his lamp. Jax has always been a competitive guy who uses a lamppost as a handi-cap. I think that should still be the case, because let's face it he and Draven were both the most self-assured people in the world.

I can see how pursuit of more powerful weapons eventually led to the ruination of Icathia, and that's why he chooses to use one of the least powerful weapons.

Apparently his lamp is now "the last light of Icathia" so apparently he uses it as a homage to the great city that used to be or something along those lines instead of pure hubris in his old lore.

Well, i guess he has a reason for his lamp... still kind of disappointed, i was hoping it would be something along the lines of "Jax decided to dishonor his enemies from the void by beating them to death with a humble lamppost, not willing to give them the honor of dying by a true weapon."

I heavily hope this Yordle stuff about Fizz and his story is not official or a joke. Other wise is just have to say the amount of effort put into this story is more than effortless.

The old story has something deep and mysterious which can easily be open ended for people to think about. The new story is basically: "Waterdwelling Yordle around Bilgwater and makes some stuff"

if you are willing to change that bio (what reason what so ever) I think something more comparable would be appropriate... So far I'm not happy with this stuff you call story.

I'm sorry for my harsh critic and I hope you listen a bit to me/the people.

Oh and I don't get whats wrong with the old story in general... it is basically the "same" just more deep and worked out.

Sweet Urgod, I hope this is a sign the lore is about to wake up a bit. I know it won't stay up too long, but please Lore! Stay up enough to give us some content.

Papa Riot, I know it's almost the Lore's bedtime. But why not keep it up a bit longer to have fun with us lore fan.

Very happy to see some updated Kennen lore as there's hardly been mention of him despite the Shen and Akali appearances in Jhin's short story (as well as Shen's new lore in general). Very interested in this direction with Kennen bringing balance within the Spirit Realm and his enthusiasm as a yordle which makes a sharp contrast to Akali and her role in the material world.

I was gonna say, as much as there are a few interesting new mini Bios here, there are a lot more of really unimaginative ones. In the sense that they don't really say much if nothing at all different from their outdated lore. Champs like Malphite and Brand require huge re-imaginings and I assume their stories will be much more divergent, as Brand himself literally still has Ivern the Cruel's origins.

I see a few displeased responses here and honestly, I would say none of this stuff should be considered canon until proper updates are given. Or canon lore already confirms it.

Yea I can admit some of these are really short, but still an update nonetheless that hint at a possible expansion of their characters. Mind you these are in-client lore, the smallest morsels we can get of their story until they release anything on the Universe to fully expand on it.

For Brand, I honestly don't really see him as something similar to Ivern. Firstly we don't know of Kegan's character before wielding the World Rune, what the World Rune did to him and his connection to the fire spirit that was locked up in Shurima (which was actually confirmed to be Brand by a Rioter). So still a lot we don't know before we start throwing comparisons.

Along with that, I like Malphite's story and hope it goes along the lines of; the Monolith being some sort of elemental spirit that had been damaged by the ever-changing magical landscape of Runeterra. Maybe even damaged by the Rune Wars, leaving Malphite as the sole surviving Earth Elemental of sorts.

These Bio updates for the much more dated champs, again like Malphite (Kayle/Morgana; Akali; Corki etc.) are just placeholders. In my books "placeholder" doesn't cut it as confirmed canon. We know this because Shadows Beckon from last year was removed from continuity recently.

My prediction; he was a simple man, blamed for the famine of his village and possessed by a demon of HUNGER of sorts who takes the form of a murder of crows. Not exactly Tahm Kench's style of gluttonous, high class picky-eating hunger, but more the decay and painful death of hunger.

That, or the Amumu route of 'mysterious mystery fable stories'

Nocturne Interesting. I cant wait to see if they are going to add a more profound story between Shen and Nocturne. That would be awsome. After all, one of Shen's duty is to slay those Evil spirit that escape the spirit world.

Along with that, Kennen is mentioned to be a close ally of Shen's, and acts as the one who patrols the spirit world, where Shen and Akali have more to do with patrolling the material world. Unlike Shen though, Akali seems to focus more solely on the material world where Shen is the bridge between both.

Akali's also mentioned as being the crueler, and harsher of the Kinkou order, which can lead to some interesting character interaction. I still hope they make her a former student of Zed's order, thus why she's a lot crueler and still learning from Shen.
