[There is a global splash art update incoming, for those who are unaware. Some champion's splash arts are being swapped with the Chinese ones. https://imgur.com/a/59fQX]

I'm a bit perturbed at how bright Karma's skin color is in the new Chinese splash arts. She is a bit tanner than the original Chinese splashes in which they completely stripped away her dark skin.

Here is her skin color in the splashes I'm familiar with:

Here are the updated Chinese splashes that will replace the current artwork for Sakura and Sun Goddess Karma:

The Sun Goddess one isn't so bad, though her anime girl expression clashes with the serious countenance she had in the original. I can't confidently say the new Sakura Karma splash even resembles her. I was hoping they would give her new splash art, because the fans haven't been part of her kit for a few years now.

I really enjoy the background details in the new splashes, but I can't help but feel that they could've carried over her dark skin and serious expression.

What do you guys think?

Please, please, PLEASE don't change Sakura Karma's splash to her Chinese one. I like her current splash as it is and it does resemble her in-game model, despite the color difference. Her Chinese doesn't look close to her in-game model at all.

Sun Goddess need an overall update as it still doesn't look anything like the in-game model, both Chinese and NA.

While I do admire Riot for correcting her skin color as it's clear she was white-washed in the Chinese splash but it looked too forced and unnatural. She looked like she got a bad sun burned than being a natural dark skinned lady.

The Chinese splash arts are even more far off looking than our current splash arts imo, they emphasize the fact she wears a dress, when she clearly doesn't anymore.

I realize there's an actual splash update coming up for reworked champions, but I don't think riot should replace the current splashes for the Chinese ones.

They should really match her skin tone across all her skins and in game models to her default skin.

I don't mind the new Sakura one that much, but I don't think it's really necessary.

The Sun Goddess one is really disgusting to me though. Her current splash seems to fit the skin theme and is far from the lowest quality splash in the game. The new one looks like an exotic dancer with way too much makeup.

Yeah, the clashing art styles is my biggest complaint with these global splash updates. Not to mention that the new sakura splash represents the in-game skin even less than the original, with the dark colors and all.

YES. Just the thread I was about to make. When I saw the Sun Goddess one I didn't like it- but I could handle it, I hardly use that skin anyway. And also, it's less glaringly inaccurate because you can't fully see her skirt. The face and makeup annoyed the heck out of me, but I could handle it. (Not sure I like all the purple and range of colours used in it, although it may be more aesthetically pleasing to some)

But the Sakura one... I love using that skin, it's lovely. And part of the reason I love it so much is because of the splash. It's atmospheric, it's gentle, it's beautiful. And Karma's darker skin tone gives her a really unique feel compared to what you may normally see in an outfit like that. The new splash is horrible. The tacky pose, the white-washed skin, the DARK green outfit, and that hideous blue outline on her fans. I appreciate the background, but the 'feel' of the splash is all wrong- a common theme among all the new splashes, but glaringly obvious on this one. Also I really just can't handle the anime face. Maybe on Lux or something, but not Karma.

frowns I don't like em. I don't like em at all. -Signed, Somebody with their highest mastery on Karma

Yeah. I hope they decide to leave her splash arts as is. I don't think she is that old, but her current arts does accurately portray how serene and focused she is as a character. The "temporary" replacements not only contradict her color schemes in-game, but they completely did a 180 on her character as well. She looks too "anime" and too happy. I don't mind but then it's not who she is.

Keep in mind that her ingame skin color isn't that dark either https://41.media.tumblr.com/5ffa96eb15b5d7f36e91670267cf8090/tumblr_mtlhefUwbH1s7em4eo1_500.jpg

And overall I doubt that these are really seen as big updates by riot and are more seen as a small short term solution. You know similar to the texture rebalances that we got during the release of the new summoners rift, they gave small updates to the champion textures, but didn't affect the production of VUs.

Honestly, I don't like the run of the mill anime faces so many of the Chinese splashes have. There's ones like Wukong, arctic Caitlyn, and the Morgana splashes that I really like but most of them look like I'm browsing DeviantArt rather then playing a game that's played by millions and has a massive pro scene.

If anything these splash art changes make me want to draw even more so I can surpass what a lot of these splashes give us.
