The video shows our next champion Kayn. Judging by the tooltips and ability preview, Kayn's gameplay revolves around battling against the Darkin Rhaast for control and eventually transforming based on who succeeds- one form a Darkin and one a Shadow Assassin.

So I guess that confirms that darkin are actually sentient weapons or at least a race trapped inside weapons. Which could mean that "Aatrox" is someone else and "Aatrox" is the demon possessing him. Maybe they'll tell us his real name with his GU.
Plot twist: Aatrox possibly isn't an actual Darkin but his sword is and possessed him.
The new Edge Lord has arrived, and looks so fcking badass!

In case anyone forgot the Universe site Q&A over on Reddit, it was teased that expansion upon Darkin lore was in heavy development. Edit: It's 12 days after kayn's reveal, with his bio released as well. And his lore had nothing new to learn about the Darkin, so ... I guess it's now on hold for Aatrox's GU for the end of this year?
So, here are the champions that could be Darkins in the possible Darkin lore update.
- Aatrox mentions that he created him and also he has a really simmilar kit to Aatrox.
- Aatrox is visible in his background picture in his official lol website so they could be releated, altough in his new lore Jax is connected to the Void. Also, can you imagine a Darkin which posesses a lamp?
- Just like Aatrox or our new champion Kayn, he has propably been corrupted by his weapon.
- He has got posessed by a fire spirit which turned him in to his current state, but his mentioned in the shurima lores so he might not be releated.
Meh, we are closer to the coming of Urgod.
Sorry, too much Weeaboo Edgelord for my tastes. This character already looks to have been designed for an audience of not-so-bright 12 years olds, just like Xayah and Rakan before him.
I understand that the main audience of LoL are, in fact, not-so-bright 12 years olds.... but they seemed to be doing just fine when this game released cooler, more original characters like Swain or Kindred.
This is the second new champ in a row that looks downright generic, so maybe Riot should just stop and stick to updating the better champions they've released in the past.
Lookin sweet. Somehow he looks more edgy than the new yasuo skin.
From short demonstrations of the forms, it looks like the shadow assassin will play with auto attacks in mind more, whereas the darkin looks like it has CC and sustain, similar to aatrox.
AAAUGH! I can't stand the wait damn it.
I just thought "aa" in Aatrox stood for auto attack because that's where most of hia damage come from
Hm, not really satisfied with that outcome..... If one form appears to be slightly stronger than the other, all will go for this form rending his transformation feature kinda useless... I would have preferred if they had made Fiddlesticks LoLs prime scythe user when he gets his VGU....
And the names are a missed opportunity. The guy is called Kayn, which is pretty close to the name Cain. In my opinion, it would have been great if they had chosen a changed version of the name Abel for the demon. Giving us a reference to Cain and Abel, the story of a guy killing his brother. Since one guy is overcoming the other in his gameplay, I think that would have been great.
So in the video this champion took smite.... Could this be a new jungler?!?!?!? PLEASE I have been wanting a jungler like this for so long T~T Rito Plz
