Life energy stuff, "i will put your sho'ma to good use" reminds me of an old native american thing that is/used to be done where after they killed something.... they would ask for its forgiveness (if i remember right) and promise not to waste any of its sacrifice.

Though Neeko may not be eating them or anything like that, she likely still absorbs some of their Sho'ma in some way.
