Heya everyone,
I'm here to talk about Kha'Zix. Don't get me wrong it's not a complain about the fact he got a new skin after a year or so. I just want to know why he has been chosen over so many champions for this skin. How does this thematic fits him better that let's say Karthus. You could make beautiful things with Karthus or let's say Xerath. Why the Skin team went for Kha'Zix ?

Furor Nexis2 votesThe thematic of the Dark Star line of skins is the concept of Eldritch, universal sized beings that make it their goal to consume the universe. Kha'zix, being a voidborn - in which their theme is to consume anyways - is a perfect candidate to receive the skin. As he is a jungler it just makes it that bit more sweet.
GreenLore1 votesYeah they likely wanted to avoid giving 2 midlaners the same skin thematic at the same time. So the big choice was likely more between Orianna,Karthus and Xerath.

In essence, Thresh is a slave of the entity. Varus's incarnation is what he'd look like if he was corrupted by the Darkstar entity than the pit. Orianna if she was a construct of the Darkstar. Kha'Zix probably consumed some of the power of the Darkstar, thus giving him his appearance as he is now.

midnight oil241 votesWhile timethief sums it up pretty well below, you're right in that there are others that could work better. Dark star Viktor, maybe. Or perhaps Dark Star Lux (though that could still happen someday, when she can get a skin again)

Honestly it's more of a case that it suits him perfectly down to the bone in both themes as a voidborn and a darkstar. Who knows, perhaps he's consumed other eldritch beings, or maybe consuming one is what caused him to gain it's traits. I know what you mean, he's too perfect as a candidate for the skin.

But Amumu? Voli? Jarvan? Nocturne?
GreenLore1 votesVoli is on the list for a VGU,so they actively avoid making skins for him. Nocturne and Amumu are also on the list as well(even if they aren't among the top candidates)
And Jarvan really doesn't fit this skinline at all.Kha'Zix being someone who boasts about how he consumes others all the time is much more fitting for it.
Muzét1 votesIt's not because champions are on the list that they shouldn't get skin. Specially when it's not locked. At least 1/5 of the roster are on the list Tier 1 to Tier 3. It's 28 champions if my count is on point. So 28 champions should be excluded because they're going to get a VGU someday when a kit isn't settled or even started yet.
As I said Kata got the skin project before the rework even if it was few months later. Evelynn got a skin at the Vault Skin "event" because it fits her thematically and they didn't have a date settled for the rework to happen.
GreenLore1 votesThey said that Eves skin was an exception and that they only did it because she was just too fitting for this skinline(and its also one of the reasons why the skin stayed at 750Rp,because they didn't want to give her new particles when she is on the VGU list). Not to mention that this was done at a time where we could be happy to get one big VGU in a year,wheras now we get big VGUs at a much faster pace(as we'll likely get 4-5 VGUs this year).
And in Katarinas case it is safe to assume that her project skin was nearly finished already when they settled on the candidates for the assassin-rework(as the project skins came out shortly after they settled already on the assassin-reworks),thus Kata got onto the rework list only after they invested a lot of resoureces already into her Project skin.
We also don't know if Tier3-champs are even a thing or if they are not allowed to get skins.
Also even if those 3 champs were able to get skins,they are still worse choices for the dark star skin line than Kha'zix anyway. I mean the dark stars are supposed to be alien abominations that devour entire planets,Amumu would have felt completely out of place and Volibear would have been extremely random. The only one who could have fit the skin line is Nocturne,but again there is the fact that the dark stars devour planets,thus giving Kha'zix,a champion who eats others to grow stronger, is still more fitting.
Muzét1 votesI already get the skin them. Furor Nexis provides an good explanation. But since people could be corrupted/affected by the black hole that could change their mind. And don't forget that's skins can mean alternate universes just like Star Guardian.
wolfchampion1 votesAs a Kha'Zix main, i absolutely don´t know the reason why Riot decided to give him the skin, I never expected him to fit in the thematic.
But I love it!!!
