@Reav3 Now that evelynn is out, what is the next pattern of VGU/GU/New Champ

I like that you reveal to us the pattern of events and that makes us so hype. Any pattern next? and its team too like urgots team and the one handing it. thanks

would it be:

a. swain(VGU)->irelia(VGU)->aatrox(GU)->new champ->VGU

b. swain(VGU)->irelia(VGU)->aatrox(GU)->VGU->new champ

c. swain(VGU)->irelia(VGU)->aatrox(GU)->VGU->VGU (please make this happen! And please let it be Nunu)

d. swain(VGU)->irelia(VGU)->aatrox(GU)->new champ->new champ

e. Any pattern that has not been said above

EDIT: The EVELYNN in the title should be ZOE. Sorry if i confused anybody. and who is the champ designers of swain, irelia, future VGUs/new champs again?? and their team like, urgots team got swain.

So next year will see a lot of VGU's. summary of teams

Team - Past Work - Next Work

Team A - Kayn - New Champ Team B - Urgot - Swain(VGU) Team C - Ornn - New Champ Team D - Evelynn - Irelia(VGU) Team E - Zoe - VGU, possibly because reav3 says CertainlyT's next work is a VGU

So my theory will be, is that kayn's team needs a lot more time to produce a champ because its a new champ so i think, swain will be released first and after him is the new champ. Same as Ornn's team and Irelia they will be switched making irelia to come first before ornn's teams champion. Lastly, reav3 stated already that after a new champ comes, then its swain but i think its subject to change?

TLDr; Zoe(nov) -> Swain(jan) -> New Champ(feb) -> Irelia(mar) -> New Champ(apr) -> VGU(may/june) PS: Aatrox is random and may come in any position of this pattern so i left him out for a bit.

There are no individual teams anymore. People move around from project to project and each project generally has a totally new mix of people.

Things may change (which happens a lot) but the current order of things is:

Swain > New Champ > Irelia > New Champ > Aatrox > VGU

My prediction was real yay!! and any chances that you could release an updated sub class again like this ?? This will be my next thread lmao and why is jayce an artillery mage? lastly, are there new sub classes and will you rename the "Unique Playstyle class"?, my suggestion will be the specialist class/pundit class.

Irelia started waaay before Aatrox. We announced Aatrox when we started early design iteration. We announced Irelia when we went into full production on her. Aatrox still hasn’t even entered full production yet, as his kit started much later then Irelias kit did. Since Aatrox is just a GU we announced it when it started rather then when we had a solid kit directions locked. In retrospect this was probably a mistake.

What about champions that DONT need a full on VGU though? I think ther e are a handful of champions that only need some meager animation updates and a new skill/updated passive to be good.

Vayne Teemo TwistedFate Ezreal Lissandra Nasus Kassadin Trundle Zyra Are all examples of characters who really only need a reworked passive prehaps an ability rework to be "fixed".

I mean look at that simple change to Singed Passive made the champion feel SOOO much better and ask yourself why other champions shouldnt receive similar treatment. I know you guys arent doing class updates anymore but its really annoying to sit here and see these easily fixed champions rot away because of indecisiveness or something. Are we really going to have 2 years before for the Morgana VGU before she gets an actual noticeable passive?

We do still plan on doing small reworks like singed. Those will be mostly handled by the live gameplay team now though and they are currently busy with preseason balance. Once the post Runes game state is in a more balanced state they should resume doing the smaller updates like the recent Azir rework.

If we do end up shipping some small mechanics changes to Karma it would be handled by Live Gameplay rather then Champions Team. I know she is a Champion LGP is interested in though I can’t say when they will get to her or if they will find anything they feel confident in shipping.

He is. It is actually very common for a designer to be working on 2 projects at the same time. One in full production and one in ideation. We just talked about Aatrox way earlier then we usually do. RiotJag started on the new champ right after he finished Camille. Once a Champion goes into full production it’s mostly about art/anim/vfx/Sfx and the designer is usually able to start early explorations on new projects.

Like SolCrushed started ideation on Sejuani right after the Assassins update which was long before Galio shipped. And he started Irelia ideation shortly after Galio shipped while Sej was in full production, for example.

Hey Reav3! I'm a big fan of Certainly. After Zoe when can I expect his next wonderful creation and in the form of a new Champion or a VGU? Furthermore how many projects is he currently working on? It’s not about his kit being a problem. Those 2 new champs were started way earlier then Aatrox started. I just talked about Aatrox earlier then I usually do.

You know, I was more worried that he'd be avoided cause of how unpopular he is, but I've seen a surprising number of people with that icon. May be just cause he is adorable in it, but I'm starting to feel like he has better odds of getting an update then I thought.

Wukong is my all-time favorite LoL character and I've played him almost non-stop since release.

However, it does feel like, if you look at any of the kits of newer heroes, Wukong's falls a bit flat. His abilities just do what they do, but they dont necessarily work together.

If Qs lowered cooldown on W, or if attackspeed from E sped up the spinning from R, or enemies hitting clone gave wukong health or refunded cooldown.... he'd have more options, more rewards for playing well, but he doesnt.

Its not that hes not viable, when he gets ahead he demolishes people but.... thats all hes got, burst and and a couple cool w tricks.

yep the Holy Trinity of VGU(Nunu Mordekaiser Pantheon ) needs to be VGU'ed first before any other champs.

I don't think that any of these patterns (a-d) is legit. I expect a new champ coming out after Swain, not Irelia's VGU.

They stated that they want to do a 50/50 split between new champs and VGUs. The easiest way to do that would be to simply alternate between new champions and VGUs.

So I think the pattern is the one you mentioned in your TL,DR: Swain - New Champ (Piltover or Zaun pls) - Irelia - New Champion (if not the one before, Piltover or Zaun here pls) - VGU (let it be Rammus! I read that CertainlyT showed interest in reworking Rammus in the past).

All statements above are totally unbiased and the result of serious scientific investigation. OK? OK!

you biased pony!!! i know your schemes and specially your Rammus the God of OKness -_- Jokes aside, you probably pick letter E though and i don't oppose to make another P/Z champ but nunu should be VGU'ed before rammus though. Another thing, i'm losing hope though, because like you said, CertainlyT showed interest in reworking Rammus in the past. But in the name of Nunu, I shall fight with him until the end(spoiler; if nunu will be vgu'ed though i'll support pantheon/mordekaiser next)

VGU 2018 (Should be rework champ): Nunu DrMundo Nunu if Kayle and Morgana will take VGU like Xayah &Rakan. "New duo champ debut before new duo champ rework" for sure. DrMundo need new powers of Blood Butcher like Design Visual: Urgot. My dream idea is Dr.Mundo's control of madness blood and full tank/sustain like Darius !

that was last year though. it can change and may other champs gets to rework before them. meddler didn't even said WW and Galio should be rework but then again they were rework before those champs. But, if you ask me, they are indeed needs a rework but please rework my nunu first.

Not exactly. The problem is that VGUs aren't just determined by "who needs it the most". They have to come up with a concept and if someone has a great idea for another champ, who is lower priority, they will still do it first.

That was the case for example with Warwick and Galio. It got stated that Urgot was the champion in the game with the biggest need of a VGU. But they came up with concepts for Warwick and Galio before him and so they reworked them first. It took some time for them to come up with the shotgunknee idea.

Nothing is hindering them to do a lower priority champ first. I personally hope it is Rammus. CertainlyT is doing the rework and he has shown interest in doing Rammus in the past. Possible that he is trying to figure out an idea for him right now.

Only time will tell and we have to be patient for some months for the next VGU to get announced.
