I certainly wasn't expecting bland and boring design in my fantasy hero arena video game that takes place in a fictional land with fictional cultures.
Clearly its important that Fiora looks like a realistic fencer, we wouldn't want her to appear comically out of place next to Chogath and Tahm Kench
But her gauntlet is massive, as is her pauldron. Is that not fantastical enough? Heck, she has her family's flag strapped to her shoulder.

We each formulate our own opinions regarding the presentation of a character. Some, like myself, prefer a more practical design with some additional flair. Others embrace the wild possibilities made plausible via fantasy.
To each their own. I was merely pointing out that Fiora's new design is bland in comparison to other champions because she has a uniform, is formally trained to be a fighter, while others create an outfit out of whatever is at hand, such as Tahm "Two-coats" Kench or Ekko.

Håppy1 votesI think this is rather relevant. It makes sense to have Sejuanni in more armor because she's in the freljord and is intended to be a tank. It makes sense that Kayle doesn't need boob armor because...well, why does she need it other than to show she has them? But Fiora is intended to be a noble and slightly arrogant duelist. For all practical purposes, she's the classier version of Draven and should be showcased as such with beautiful looks! There are certain champions that should hold more modest looks ((
)), some that are more "sexy" if you will ((
)), and more in between and everywhere ((
)). Why suddenly change a beautiful champion into a sudden animated disney villain?
And I'll just post an entirely different thread here, Fiora is one of the biggest egos in the League, why would she wear such a bland outfit? I get that they want to make her look like A duelist, but Fiora is THE duelist, don't throw her in classic fencing gear.

Why is it absolutely necessary a champion have one characteristic imposed on their design? A person can be incredibly arrogant without dressing like a stuffed shirt. And further, why would THE duelist, Grand Duelist, who prides her self on impeccable form and unparalleled performance wear something that would impede her ability to duel? Fiora's pride is displayed in how she approaches combat and how well she fights, not in how she dresses.

What if Harry Potter decided that he didn't want his glasses anymore, or decided to cover up his scar with make-up? What if Gangplank decided that apples tasted better than oranges? What if Teemo got rid of his blowpipe for an assault rifle? These are changes to characters that would be pretty significant, no? Changes that would kind of destroy the whole theme of, or aspects of, the characters? That's exactly how we feel about all these changes to Fiora.

If Harry Potter decided he didn't want his glasses, maybe he could have gotten contacts, or just struggled through his vision impairment, he's still Harry Potter, isn't he, or are you suggesting changing his appearance changes his fundamental character? If Gangplank ate apples instead of oranges would it really change who he is besides preferring to keep the doctor away once a day rather than scurvy? Teemo utilizing a machine gun over his blowpipe is a fairly significant change and suggests a wildly different character, but comparing that to Fiora's change in uniform is absurd.
Fiora still has her sword, she is still an arrogant aristocrat, and she is still meticulously dressed in a manner that does not significantly hamper her ability to cut whomever she wishes to bloody ribbons.
I'm just trying to understand how the entirety of her character is tied to the way she is dressed, and why an arrogant personality demands a flamboyant appearance.

I'd argue that Fiora's face on her new splash art is entirely because of the artist. If you look at her updated in-game models, she has some furious babyface with puffy pursed lips going on.
Sharjo4 votesBut in-game models are also made specifically for game purposes, meaning they don't really need to accentuate the cheeks of a character who's face takes up a very small part of what you're seeing.
What I'm saying is human faces in League tend to be very bad because they're very small amounts of model real-estate in-game. You aren't watching her face while playing, so they're fine giving her eyes that don't blink and a mouth that doesn't move.

It's more that, from my experience, Riot doesn't give a damn about their women's faces and believes their bodies/outfits are the sole recognition point.
Hell, Ahri alone has four different faces - her in-game is based off her old splash art, then there are her current splash art, the Ahri vs. Morgana wallpaper that makes her look distinctly Caucasian and the look she sports in the Dawn cinematic. She also sports two different eye colors, blue in the cinematic and gold everywhere else.
In fact, even their bodies will often undergo changes to improve their sex appeal. Sona is petite with the exception of her breasts in most of her splash arts and models, but DJ Sona gives her an ass the size of Taj'Mahal.

333lom2 votesYes, it depends on the style of the artist. Maybe Riot is also encouraging artists to draw different female faces, in their own styles. It would be great if that were the truth, but... I don't know, I'm still not convinced. They're a long way from making their female champions not just "attractive toys".

Mind you, someone is guaranteed to turn her old model into a custom/mod skin within a week, so it's not like we're losing anything with this one.

I thought her old design was also pleasant, fantastic, yes, but not stupidly cumbersome. If anything, I think the oversized pauldron is more impractical than her previous look, but that seems to be in vogue for Demacia.

I most definitely agree. Her old voice was a bit too cliche, even for my tastes. If they crank that up beyond what we had to the level of a caricature I will be most upset.
