What champions would benefit from a thematic update?

As the game is modernized factions gain more of a set visual identity and new champions are more rigorously tailored to fulfill their fantasy all-around.

Some older champions didn't emerge with these guidelines yet in place though, and there might be chances for improvement thematically given the efforts of the VU team. Karthus is a good example of a theme being pushed to new glorious heights after an update, and also clearly placing him within the Shadow Isles' visual identity.

What champions do you think could gain most from their fantasy, theme or affiliation being solidified in an update?

Irelia Her most defining feature is that she is the girl with levitating blades, yet her kit makes only use of that with her ult(which feels quite unimpressive),the rest of her abilities could have been slapped on any other bruiser

Kennen he is basically THE electro mage of the game,no other champ uses as much lightning as he does(ryze and xerath use pure energy),however he doesn't look like a lightning champ at all

Taric he is a gem paladin, but that hardly matters, the only gem related move is his w(and those look like crystals),they should give him animations that make it clear that the abilities come from the gems on his armor

DrMundo yeah him being a serial killer isn't really noticeable at all,he should remain a comedic character, but he should express his sadistic side a bit more

Ryze I'm not even sure whats ryzes core theme,he is kinda the standard mage and a keeper of an ancient scroll with magic tatoos and thats basically it and none of that gets really expressed in any way by him

Go on...

Mundo's kind of weird: We know him as this goofy purple lughead, but in his lore he's actually a sadistic killer who experiments on people.

Still being editted and updated. lost original post ):

Needs to be redefined by their region:

Shurima Amumu - no longer a yordle? doesn't feel shuriman other than mummy wraps. Xerath -love old visuals and lore; new lore makes his visuals feel like man in the iron mask rather than entombed sarcophagus. Rammus Skarner - feel like displaced zoo animals rather than natural residents; could be justified by lore...

Urtistan( if influenced by the regions around it ?) Zilean - doen't appear to be a desert dweller, crazy time control tech?; Could be justified by lore...

Icathia/Void Malzahar- may need just model/texture update Kassadin- high tech breathing mask?/blue skin? Chogath- Complete visual overhaul needed; feels too Spawn/lizard-like rather than Void insect KogMaw- just needs model/texture update

Freljord Brand- pending lore rewrites; Brand doesn't look like a person with his own will or motivations. The possessed body that Brand is in could hint at his lokfar origins. At least have Brand look like the end game boss he's suppose to be rather than forgettable minion fodder.
Nunu- Nunu should look like Feljordian child rather than santa's elf. Udyr - Udyr's base model needs an update; Himalayan mountain monk might be an interesting visual direction.

Demacia Galio - green and yellow/gold don't really read as a demacian color scheme. perhaps slate blue instead of green? JarvanIV - misshapen dragon armor?; needs clean straight lines. Lux - lose a little armor and gain more regal mage robes; perhaps just a model/texture update. Shyvana - may just need a texture/model update but I think her Ironscale skin should be swapped as her base. She looks to feral to reside in Demacia as is. If her human form armor isn't biologically a part of her body then she should have armor that looks like it came from Demacia. Vayne - i like her current visuals but it doesn't really fit demancia.

.

Locations and champs with conflicting visuals among themselves and the location

Piltover- "City of Progress or what the hell does hextec look like?" Caitlyn- sniper/sherrif from victorian steampunk universe Corki- dieselpunk helicopter flying yordle Ezreal- lore justified visuals... but could have the glove look to be more shuriman in origin. Jayce - this is what i think piltover as a city and hextec should look like. bold clean shapes and colors that reference clock work but have futuristic edge. Jinx - possible lore justified visuals... still looks like dieselpunk 80's punk rocker. Orianna - too much victorian clockwork not enough hextec Vi - looks like piltover criminal, i.e. jinx, rather than police officer. Also dieselpunk as opposed to hextec for her gloves.

Mount Targon - needs story, any story at all. Pantheon - walking grecian/roman cliche Leona - high contrast modern clean sharp lined body suit with classical armour bits. Diana - lower contrast body suit with overlapping non-referential armour bits.

yordles/bandle city- visual unification in progress(?); needs to refrence current residence when appropriate.

Zuan- whatever the hell it is; figure out a visual style and stick with it. I would have suggested dystopian diesel punk but a lot of piltover is already co-opting it.

Displaced champs - figure out where the hell they belong and then give them a visual update Alistar ,Evelynn ,Fiddlesticks ,Jax ,Kayle ,Malphite , Morgana , Ryze ,Shaco , Taric

Evelynn

What even is Evelynn. People say "Vampire/succubus/assassin/Void Monster/Shadow Isles Dweller/????", and I think it'd be nice if we could cut that to maybe two or three words.

Jax

No League means Jax makes no sense.

Pantheon

We just don't have enough on him.

Three of the Freljord champs come to mind.

Ashe could use another passby on her theme if only to modernize her (again).

Tryndamere could really use a better focus on his updated theme of "King of the Freljordian nation". He really seems to fit closer with Sejuani and her style than his wife. I know he's ragey and angry, but it's hard to understand how his best friend is Braum and he's monarch of his land with his VO and base skin. Give the man a shirt (or leather armor top, etc.).

Nunu. Dear sweet Teemo, Nunu. His animations are bland, his kit disjointed and hardly animated. If I hadn't read the tooltip several times to make sure, I would (and honestly still believe) that it's Willump puking up the Ice Blast because Nunu himself just blends into the yeti on most skins. Honestly, it'd be great seeing Nunu getting a (almost) full relaunch like what Sion received. Most of his abilities are fine, but the animations, and the rig he has, need to go back to page one. I kinda want to see Nunu climbing all over his buddy; they're two friends as one unified fighting unit, but I had to point out to my mom (who was a captive audience while I watched a match on twitch during her visit) that Nunu was a kid riding the yeti, not just a yeti running around throwing balls of ice. If I could suggest, keep Willump white, but give Nunu a VERY DARK coat to wear. And please, please, get rid of the ridonkulous amount of fur trim on his hood. It's trim, not hair and beard.

Ionia could benefit from an overall visual design theory like Noxus has. At least the more official Ionian champions, to be brought in line with the visual styles of Karma and Syndra (she may be renegade, but she is Ionian and I see room in her narrative to come to their aid if pleaded/asked to). We've seen Shurima, we've glimpsed Noxus... I wanna see Ionia and and Avarosa.

Kassadin Is probably coming up in the near future, he has robes of paper and lets face it. If you look at the back of his robes in SR you will notice small purple dots, obviously texture is off by a bit

Koggy doesn't fit well with the visual Void themes that Riot has been cementing and his kit doesn't match up with his lore at all.

He doesn't eat anything!

Vladimir Vladimir. A Blood mage who looks, acts and is a vampire, but at the same time he's not. Even his name is Vlad. Kneel before Vlad! After hearing this, would you imagine a blood mage or you'll imagine a sadistic secular vampire with a castle and some count-like title? You'll chose the second one for sure.
