Who was Viktor before he became the Machine Herald?

We know he had a hand in creating Blitzcrank, if it wasn't by his hand alone, and constructed a number of advanced devices now employed on Summoner's Rift to bring efficient death to his enemies, but Viktor is a mystery at any point in time prior to his emergence as The Machine Herald. It is rather unusual that such an accomplished inventor managed to avoid any sort of attention to his life, let alone his work.

What was Viktor before he first fused metal and flesh? A student, a doctor, a researcher for a yet unnamed corporation? More importantly, who was he? What was the man like before he became the machine?

I could ramble on and on of what I think Viktor was like, what he did, before embracing the Glorious Evolution, but I would much rather read what others think.

So, what theories do you have regarding the man of machine and nerve?

Well, we know some stuff about him and we can make a theory with that information.

Early in life, Viktor discovered his passion for science and invention, particularly in the field of mechanical automation. He attended Zaun's prestigious College of Techmaturgy and led the team that constructed Blitzcrank a scientific breakthrough that he expected to vault him to the top of his profession. Unfortunately his triumph was usurped by Professor Stanwick, who stole credit for developing Blitzcrank's sentience and later used Viktor's research to revive Urgot. Viktor's appeals for justice fell on deaf ears, and he sank into a deep depression. He withdrew from the College and barricaded himself in his private laboratory

He studied in Zaun's College of Techmaturgy... And he withdrew from it. That means that he was probably studying when he barricaded himself, so, he wasn't yet a inventor or something like that: He should had been a student... Or a professor.

But then we can go to Blitzcrank's lore,

It was under these conditions that a team of doctoral students from Zaun's College of Techmaturgy made a breakthrough in the field of intelligent steam automation*

And we find that Blitzcrank was made by a team of doctoral students: It means that Viktor was going to finish his studies. But he didn't, sadly. That confirms that he wasn't a professor too~

I'm new to these sort of forums and noticed under the Story Guidelines to not post fan-fiction or "roleplaying discussions." So, forgive me if I am wrong about my interpretations of this rule.

This is my Viktor roleplaying blog on tumblr and the head canons I have thought of are my speculations and theories of the Machine Herald. To sum things up, I spent a lot of time developing my interpretation of him, following a very realistic , logical, and humanistic approach in order to figure out who he is. (Excuse some of the liberties I chose to differentiate myself from other Viktor role-players; i.e. surname, age, timeline, and facial features and please focus on the ideas and concepts).

So looking namely under "Personality" and "Trauma and Psychology," I thought Viktor must have been a good man in order to have reacted so violently to his betrayal at the hands of Stanwick. What caused him to hate being a part of humanity? I figured, it was mostly because the justice system -- people -- left him to fend for himself. He only wanted recognition for his work; Blitzcrank would have launched him to the pinnacle of his career. I believe Viktor interpreted this akin to him dedicating his whole life to bettering Zaun (Blitzcrank was purposed to deal with chemical waste), only to have the whole of Zaun cast him aside without a second thought. If Zaun did care, then the court dispute would have ended in his favor, according to Viktor's standpoint. To highlight a key point from my theories, "whatever the evolution is, it is not his original idea but a twisted vision of how he tried to cope with his loss." In other words, his dream of helping people turned into the Glorious Evolution, saving humanity by evolving and improving humanity.

Possibly, or an associate, there is no explicit evidence.

I analyzed Blitzcrank's and Viktor's lore to come to certain conclusions:

From Blitzcrank's: "It was under these conditions that a team of doctoral students from Zaun's College of Techmaturgy made a breakthrough in the field of intelligent steam automation."

From Viktor's: "…He sank into a deep depression. He withdrew from the College."

Viktor is in a team of doctoral students, which I believe means he is in a doctoral program, trying to get his doctorates in techmaturgy. Since "he withdrew from the College," that means he was still a student and had not yet graduated and certified as a doctor.

Well, I will stop now before I basically write out everything on my blog. I hope this presents a new point of view.

Well he was...Viktor.

I'd say he could have been reclusive and focused entirely on his work, not seeking praise. Also, his inventions could have been stolen from him and credit denied, as has happened at least once before.
