The Tragedy of Pantheon

I must say well done to the Rioters that worked on Pantheon's rework, from the VO, to the Splash arts and the lore, everything looks great. The approach to utilize Aatrox to further Pantheon's story was an excellent and clever decision. This is the lore that we should have been given long ago, but could not have until now.

Diving into the new lore a bit, there is a tragedy in Pantheon's new lore, it comes with the death of the Aspect. Pantheon would have been considered the most knowledgeable Aspect of the mysteries of Mt. Targon, however, with Atreus' return it is made clear he only vaguely recollected his life under the Aspect's possession, meaning he is now, possibly the least knowledgeable Aspect. This also has implications in-universe as well, it means that there are things that the Aspect knew of, reasonings and methodologies that Atreus no longer grasps, in the grander scheme of the universe. This **DOES NOT ** make the lore BAD, this is who he is **SUPPOSED **to be now.

The tragedy is, that many of the things the Aspect knew, Atreus is going to have to learn himself, as the NEW Aspect of War.

As far as we know, the Aspect, was also once a Targonian, that would have ascended to godhood, much like Atreus, years as a god making the Aspect indifferent to mortal mind. Atreus' account is not the first of an Aspect being "reborn".

From Aatrox's Bio:

It is said that the Aspect of Twilight gave mortals the knowledge to trap the darkin, and the newly reborn Aspect of War united many in fighting back against them.

Perhaps we even already know of another previous Aspect of War...Aatrox.

Perhaps a previous Aspect of War was originally a member of the Killash tribe that ascended to become an Aspect.

Yeah I originally hoped that Pantheons update would bring us some insights into the aspects as a whole given that he was an aspect himself, so I'm a bit disappointed that this is unlikely to happen.

That being said, I do think that this was for the best, as I never saw anyone who really liked the new Pantheon and a lot of people complained that Pantheon went from "human badass" to "jerkass god, who steals bodies and enslaves dragons". Heck new Panths lore looks like it builds upon how disliked the previous lore was as, it kills of the disliked god-pantheon and replaces him with a human one, that even shares the fandoms dislike for what god-pantheon did.

I do hope that they revisit the concept with a new champ eventually though.
