The Comet cometh

The Spear of Targon - Universe of League of Legends

Many of you may know that Pantheon's initial color story The Spear of Targon teased a character known as the Seer.

“Your tongue is forked, serpent,” said the lone warrior. “You seek the blood of the Seer, and it will be your end. You were born on the mountain, and now you will die in its shadow.”

Who was later revealed to be Soraka, an amazing setup capitalized upon many years later. However, this story also teased the return of another character to Runeterra...

A comet of burning fire streaked down toward the distant mountains, a hundred miles east.

Pantheon’s eyes narrowed. “It is time, then,” he said to the darkness, and began the long journey back to Mount Targon.

AurelionSol is known to resemble the form of a comet from a distance when in flight. However, The Spear of Targon features a Pantheon who is not our own, this is The Aspect of War, inhabiting Atreus' body, prior to his encounter and death at the hands of Aatrox. Currently Atreus now once again in control of his body is in Nerimazeth fighting alongside the Rahorak against an Ascended, speculated to be Xerath, trying to take control of the ruined city.

**This means that the story of Pantheon and this comet is of the past and begs the question... was this really Aurelion Sol? **

If so, will we get a follow up to this story? The cosmic dragon has been trapped in a peculiar state ever since his release, lore-wise, he is Targon's greatest weapon against the Void, a role which supposedly takes him to various planets throughout the universe, yet Riot has stated that they will not be writing stories on other worlds. I would be excited to read a story featuring the Aspect of War and Aurelion Sol, as the Aspect was never expanded upon as a character in either versions of Pantheon's lore, however we do know they share a certain history and chemistry with Aurelion Sol.

I think at the time it was released it may have been ASol, but I cant really see his return being set that far back anymore. I would say Aatrox is more likely now, their lore does mention their fight enfulged the skies so Aatrox probally can fly. It being Kayle is an interesting possibilty too, but as the story being before his fight with Aatrox means it should be 8 years ago or so in universe wise, I can only really see it being Aatrox.

ASOL Because if the story was a prequel back when the aspect of war possesed Atreus the line "It is time then" was when Pantheon commenced with his plan on enslaving Aurelion Sol.

Funny enough, Atreus doesn't like him that much either.
