Did Veigar Lose His Arm?
I know this is a rather sudden idea that is largely irrelevant to the most recent additions to lore, but hear me out.
As I was admiring Gangplank's new splashart the emphasis drawn to his fist reminded me of another champions whose hand also dominates a substantial portion of their art. I realized just how impracticably huge Veigar's gauntlet is; I have always known it was large, that is part of his design and suits his character, but I never truly considered the sheer absurdity of its size.
Veigar possesses complete control over his ridiculously-sized gauntlet despite it being fairly unreasonable his tiny yordle hands could fill it properly, and I wondered how exactly is this accomplished. Maybe it's just a magic spell, or maybe there is a complex structure inside that reacts to the movement of his fingers. But what if it is more than just a trick for intimidation?
Veigar suffered for an indeterminate amount of time in Noxus. He was tortured mentally, and more than likely not physically. There exists the possibility that at some point or another his arm was removed out of malice or more practical reasons, such as preventing an infection from spreading. When he finally managed to escape, he compensated his loss the only way he knew how, through black magic.
As a final note, I understand skins have no real relation to canon besides existing in their own universe, but all champions possess a particular resonance across their skins, traits that are retained, whether they are downplayed or emphasized. For Veigar, every skin has one hand larger than the other, but his Final Boss skin takes this one step further and has it completely removed from his body. While this likely just be a reference to Rayman's design, it could be a hint to the true nature of Veigar's gauntlet.
