Some Questions Regarding the Darkin "lore update"?
Sorry if that's not what it is but it seems like darkin got retconned from a race of, demons?, to corrupted ascended which I'm fine with I just like knowing what to call changes like this.
I've read all of it I'm pretty sure but this raises questions for me.

So perhaps I'm the only one that remembered this but WAAAY back when Aatrox was released it was dropped that there are 4 darkin in total. Now even after many years it seemed like they were still sticking to 4, after all with Vaarus' confirmation of being a darkin and Rhaast entering the scene, and than having Vaarus looking for his sister in Shurima it looked like the "complete set" was gonna be found in the not so distant future. Now that their origin story has been more or less confirmed is Riot still sticking to 4 total?
Like are there only 4 remaining alive? or only 4 active? or is it instead just those are the only 4 still known to mortals? -
If the Darkin are corrupted ascended wouldn't they have been exiled or dealt with by the "untainted" ascended ? The story clearly states there was a not an insignificant time between the corruption of the void touching them and the civil wore that eventually broke out after Azir's death. If the Ascended were so misshapen by their conflict with the void to the point of looking like aliens or demons, wouldn't they have at least been shunned?

As the twilight of the gods shows, they knew of ways to kill, or at the very least, remove the power granted to the ascended. So why did the practice fusing them to their weapons become the go to solution to beating the Darkin? I understand how damning an imprisonment it is after reading "The Cage" but it's also equally clear that they become essentially immortal, even more so than they were when the were just ascended. If the goal was to rid them selves of the Darkin they did so poorly, instead made them an irremovable mark upon the world as we can clearly see by the fact that one way or another they do not simply stay imprisoned

Anyone else find it Ironic that after years of infighting and contempt, it now seems one of there only goals (besides destruction) is reunited with the brethren they fought against in their final moments as free beings. Perhaps it's guilt, or hope or something else. But they don't really explain it, they just say they want to reunite and destroy stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for that, this would be my ideal outcome in the situation presented, I just want to know what THEY hope to get out of this. like what are they thinking when they reunite. Are they gonna work together? Try to kill each other? Or just go their separate ways when the realize they are just as broken as themselves?
If anyone as any theory that could even begin answer some of these questions I wanna hear it, cause whenever lore comes out like this I just wanna gab about it for a solid day or two, and heck sense I love polls ima make one too
