After the lore revamp is finish, we need books first before movies [ See as to why ]

Like the title, after riot finishes the whole lore revamp, we need books(specially trilogy books) first before movies. Specially that, books before movies in the film industry is a good way to start a great story. Look at Harry Potter, LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc. they are indeed great books but much more great when they became a movie. as to why? because it was already planned already and they just touch it up when they make the movie because of the books. And i want LOL to be like that too and not just some reckless movie like other movie based on video games.

A movie needs to be thought up well in order to be a great movie. And all of those stories in LOL is great and its a waste of source material if it didn't come into the big screens. Specially all of the lores are cliff hangers or the unfinished stories, so we need a conclusion of it and the best way to come up with it is a movie focusing on the present timeline and make all those stories come into a 1 conclusion.

And if those books became successful, well the movie will indeed be much greater . Plus, when the movie arrives, riot will have 3 kinds of fans now waiting for the movie; the gamers, the lore nerds and the book worms. and add the movie watchers into the mix if the first movie became a hit. So what does books can give you too? Fans and Money. yes, money. they can invest the money to create better visual for the movie and can fund the movie too. BTW, the narrators at riot are good so i bet the books that they will create will be great too.

BTW, i have ideas for movie/books plots and titles

NOTE: Before you babble, "this shit should be posted in the concept and creations blah blah blah. I just want to iliterate that i like my post connected and don't want seperate ones in the same manor specially the upper half is for the story,art and sound thread.

So my idea on the title of the books are; in order:

before you read, yes i make ezrael the main character because he has the protagonist potential and made lux and ekko his subordinates through out the whole story.

Book 1. League of Legends: The Triforce

Interesting Subplots :

  • Ez is the MC and the movie focuses first into his childhood until he is now an explorer(maybe a 5 minutes story in the movie)
  • Ez uncle told him a great item and made him pump to find it (triforce)
  • Ez finds clue to where it is. Someone told that 1 demacian knows so ez journeyed to demacia
  • On the way to demacia, he saw a magical dragon flying in the sky towards the south west direction.
  • Was caught by 2 thiefs (Graves and 2 other man) but escaped
  • In demacia she saw lux and became enemies at first
  • Then they became friends ( typical boy meets girl cliche) and help find the demacian person
  • They saw garen and was suspicious about their relationship
  • They found the person that they were looking for, a book exclusive character (soon to be champ jk)
  • Told that they need to find 3 items for him to tell him the whole details about the triforce (Sheen,stinger,Phage)
  • He told that sheen was in freljord, stinger was in shurima and the phage is in zaun
  • They(lux and ez) traveled to freljord to get the item and ask ashe to help them.
  • Ashe didn't hesitate because he wants to help but she has a condition, to ask the 2 to join her army
  • They agreed and ashe with nunu join them because he likes it for what so ever reasons
  • Told them it was in the frost guard territory
  • They became like spies and but then the ice knows their interference because she has OP powers duh!
  • The 4 became separated( Nunu & Ez and Ashe & Lux ) becauseof a troll guard
  • Ez group was being chased by the troll guard(trundle) but was easily deafeted by the two
  • Meanwhile, ashe told her POV about the freljord( woooh freljord lore ) while walking
  • The two manages t find the item cliche
  • They stole it and saw ez group cliche then they escape
  • The ice witch just smiles and says she has greater plans than wasting time with these fools just like a badass witch she is (has a better story in the future arcs )
  • Ez and lux parted ways with ashe and nunu and they initially became friends
  • The 2 now headed for shurima to retrive the stinger item.
  • They don't know so they ask where it is from the people but they don't know aswell
  • But one guy knows and bet its a stinger from a dead gem scorpion cause "My stinger brings ugly death!"
  • Lux and Ez search holes in shurima for a buried dead gem scorpion's stinger
  • One help them, Jayce cause he is in the hunt for these aswell
  • They find one and and parted ways with jayce but the stinger keeps singing noise
  • Then a big scorpion gem appeared
  • He doesn't want to harm people so he just warns them that the stinger they're holding is a bad omen
  • The scorpion eradicated before their eyes and the just ignored (has a better story in the future arcs )
  • They're now headed to zaun
  • Meet some gangsters but was easily defeated by the two.
  • Meet a child prodigy, ekko along the way
  • Likes to join them to search for the last item
  • Now, one of ekko's gang told that the last item was in a house of a chem baron
  • They secretly sneaked into the house but was caught.
  • They easily defeated the chem baron's team
  • One vigilante saw what they did specially ekko and smiled **cough uuuuurrrrggoottt cough **
  • Ekko still wants to join their group
  • The 3, heads to demacia to give the items
  • He crafted the items into a triforce and his name is doran btw
  • Ez was excited and want to show this to his uncle
  • Lux now parted ways with ekko and ez because their mission is now done
  • Ez was sad :( and lux too
  • Along the journey, ez remembered the scorpions words but ignored it anyways
  • Now, something is wrong with the item but they didn't notice it (a good story for another arc)
  • They crossed with many bandits and the two put an epic fight
  • Ez almost died but ekko use his ultmate LOL!
  • The 2 parted ways in piltover
  • Ez gave the item to his uncle as a present
  • The movie/book closes with the item controlling ez's uncle after ez left to find another item

I'm lazy to do a TL;DR ... so sorry :)

If you want some stories like this, just say it in the comments. The or other books too after this like:

  • Book 2. League of Legends: Zaun Vs. Piltover - Ez and comp. stop the new war tragedy.
  • Book 3. League of Legends: Time Warp Race - Ez and comp. race through time to defeat the a book exclusive enemy which steal ekko's time machine. Ez needed zil too to time travel and they go through historical events and in the possible future. like the noxian-ionia invasion, old shurima ascension story,etc.
  • Book 4. League of Legends: Freljord Ragnarok - Ez and comp. put an end to the freljord demise.
  • Book 5. League of Legends: Harrowing Extravaganza - Ez and comp. resolves the conflict of bilgewater and the shadow isles.
  • Book 6. League of Legends: Shuriman Shuffle - Ez and comp. resolves the conflict of shurima.
  • Book 7. League of Legends: The Ultimate War pt. 1 - Ez and comp. resolves the new war were: the rise of the darkins begin, the rise of the void creatures, the noxian invasion ultimate conquer to all factions, the rise of the undead, zed army and many more.
  • Book 8. League of Legends: The Ultimate War pt. 2 - the ending of the war. possibly the downfall of noxus army, the full extinction of darkins, the return of the blessed isles, the elimination of the void, the balnce of the kinkou order and many more.
  • Book 9. League of Legends: Targon's Testimony - After the war, Ez and comp. uncovers the secrets of targon.
  • Book 10. League of Legends: Voids Return - Now with a new boss, void opens a portal true bandle city causes chaos again through humanity. and ez and comp. once again resolve this ruse.
  • Book 11. League of Legends: The Final Conflict - Ez and comp. needs to defeat the final boss of the story, his uncle which is consumed by the great god of the gem scorpions.
  • Book 12. League of Legends: Unified World - Shows the new runeterra without conflicts like the past movies with ez and lux now married and has 2 children. In this book we will see how they interact with the new runeterra and how will they handle the fame of their parents/ heroes as they say.

Here is my honest opinion, and you can downvote or ignore it if you want because it likely won't be the feedback you want to hear...

I think that books/movies tied to video games, trading cards, or other similar source material, tend to be a bad idea as their usual poor quality often actually devalues the product they take inspiration from as they become a point of derision. They are something that should be avoided in most cases, especially if cautious low-risk content hasn't already been released to test the waters.

A web-only free comic book series, which if proven popular could eventually launch into a profitable printed graphic novel series and/or regular printed comic books, would likely make more sense for League's demographic. If a devoted fan-base formed around the comic series, I could imagine an animated TV/Youtube/Neflix show developing from it. Only if that happened and was gauged worthwhile, would movie production be worth considering at all in my opinion. Even with such precaution, Riot would need to be extremely wary of producing something along the lines of the Last Air Bender movie flop, which could devalue their brand while wasting their resources.

For the foreseeable future, I think Riot should absolutely stay away from print-only novels because the target audience is too small with too high of standards for story quality and consistency.

Okay, I don't gona commet on your story idea, 'cause it just isn't good. Really not good.

Runeterra is a big, complicated world. I do understand why this three could be great MC, but let's be honest - we have so many champion and important NPC, almost everyone could be a MC. I don't wanna read about some boring, non-important adventure. And even less I wanna read about how easy some three teenager can resolve world-threatening problems. Things don't work like this. Especially since Runeterra isn't a sunny world. It's a gloomy world with many possibilities and even more horror. I wanna read about the revolution, about war and conquer, about the rise and fall of heroes and monsters. Most important I wanna read about many different champions. And some people I enjoy champions, that aren't good persons. Miss Fortune and Zed are both really interesting champion and they are CLEARLY not good guys. People are too complicated to make everything black and white as you wish.

In the end, just let the narrator team finish the retcon. After the retcon is done they won't suddenly stop releasing new work. I don't think the retcon will be finish earlier than in 3 years.

I'd love to see some novels set in Runeterra, but of all the interesting stories possible, making Ezreal the main character would be an abysmally bad choice. Having Ex, Lux and Ekko show up to fix everything in every faction really cheapens the stories of other champions. Certainly books would be easier to produce than films or tv shows, though, so it seems quite plausible that this could happen in future.

I always figured they should go down the book path before ever even considering movies, but I don't think it should be focused on one character. Since League isn't a good guys vs bad guys story and Ezreal of all people is pretty biased in his views on other places, especially Noxus. Also there's a lot of characters with their own motivations and thoughts that would be wasted if we only focused on one characters life. Seeing that he probably wouldn't even interact with more than half of the current cast of league. And if he did people who don't play the game, but read the story would be lost trying to remember all these characters. Which a lot wouldn't have much screen-time/book-time. And don't get me started on how much backstory wouldn't even be mentioned in much detail or at all because it wouldn't be relevant to the plot at the time or it would just be thrown in there.

If anything it should be like the Wild Cards series where its a bunch of stories about each persons life and you see how the things one character is investigating/killing/doing effects other characters who they haven't even interacted with. Or just a comic book as the Wild Cards series is a comic book but in Novel form.

This is actually a well thought out idea. The thing about this is that I'd rather let this be a book/comic series than a movie in perspective. Then again, an animated series based on your idea would do fine as well, as long as the keep all the major, original details from the book intact.

Poll is misleading. I like books, just not ones that would be about League.

I don't think any supplementary content such as books should focus on champions. They should focus on the history of the world, like the Ruined King, pre-downfall Shurima, etc.

If there would be a book or bookseries or even a movie about League of Legends, they must avoid using a single champion or a small group of champions as protagonists at all cost!

Chosing the right champions for that rolle is just impossible. There are to many of them and every main of a champ that didnt get the attention it deserves would like the books or movie less.

In my opinion it would be best, if the books or movie discover, together with a whole new character created only for this medium, parts of Runeterra that are far away from all the champions. It would be fascinating to learn more about the gods that rule the continent or the things that happened in the rune wars.

You realize that you're touting the successes while not bothering to mention the much more numerous failures? Of those 3- 2 are across the board being pointed out to be worse as time has progressed and are headed towards being actively disliked by the original fanbase?

... Rowling was not in the slightest planning on her books becoming movies. You can tell exactly WHEN she started doing it because there's a marked change in how spells function and are described once you reach around the 4th/5th book- which coincides with the beginning of the movies. Pirate of the Caribbean isn't based on a book at all- it's a theme park ride that they decided to make a movie about. And I somehow doubt Tolkien sat there and thought about how sweet his books would be on film but at least this was a plausible thing unlike the other two.

If League were to do anything, it would be comics and then some sort of movie, not books. I like books but I'll be more than fine to say it's never going to happen. Waaaaay too much of LoL's fanbase has no interest in reading a novel.

I love the ideas your going with I really do. That said, some advice to listen to. When it comes to giving descriptions to your writing pieces, you need to give detailed descriptions. I realize you were summarizing, and luckily for me I was able to still be interested, but if you do such shotty descriptions then I don't think people would be interested enough to read your books.

Also, for character ideas, I would have to say no to Ekko . He has protagonist potential no doubt, but I do not see him being apart of this story with Ezreal . Ekko has some issues with Pilties, and in fact sees Ezreal as a poser. Perhaps someone more likely to be involved with ancient items/weapons, like Nasus or Ryze .

I also have an idea for your story pattern. This one is just my idea so you can take it with a grain of salt. You could try and make your books connect like a "cinematic universe". You could do differetn stories with differetn MCs and then have then connect. Just an idea

I like where your going with this idea, I don't read often because I don't see enough good stories. Riot's lore, however, always has me interested. So if a book series is indeed made then I would certainly read it. If it also leads to the movies, then even better.[slayer-pantheon-rainbows]

Yes, League need to expand it lore into other forms of media. Books & Movies are good, but there's are also comics/manga, poems, songs, videos, shows & maybe even video games that can be used to explore a variety of characters & storylines. You can a long running comic series about the War for Freljord. Or a videos series that's a compilation about the Demacian champs rather than an overaching story. Or a video game about Lucian & his fight for revenge. You know, the same route of Marvel/DC/Star Wars/etc.

League have too much to cram it all into one book/movie series. Some characters & storylines deserves their own series. League of Legends isn't like Harry Potter where it centers around one character & their story, it's an entire universe like Marvel or DC with many different characters & stories. Some stories are more small & personal, while others are more grand & epic. Some characters have dark & serious stories, while others are more lighthearted & fun. Every champ have their own story & should be the protagonist of their own story rather than be some side character in a Ezreal fanfic. That would be a massive disservice to those champs & the fans/players of those champs. Ezreal has his own story, he don't need to be the hero who saves the universe.

Video game movies always end up as let downs. Honestly i would rather have a collection of stories for a book. Maybe they could end some of the major events.

Only issue is that {there really shouldn't be single protagonist, or even a single party of protagonists. League's lore is good because it's not just a bunch of stories; it's hundreds of stories woven together.

Ezreal Lux Ekko are good characters, and work great as protagonists, but they don't fit in most of the lore.

The Shadow Isles lore is about a king that drove the isles to ruin, a monk and tree who seek to cleanse the isles, and a warlord who seeks to spread the mist to the far reaches of Runeterra. It's NOT about a trio of teenagers running around a haunted island with flashy magic and hextech.

The closest thing to a central character is someone like Bard, but that's only because he's simultaneously in every place and every time at once. He observes everything, but doesn't participate, so he'd be able to narrate (though we can't understand him, and that's a big part of his character so having him be the narrator seems like a bad idea).

For League, a Game of Thrones style with multiple simultaneous storylines and multiple protagonists would be the way to go.

While i do agree that books are a natural evolution when the retcon is complete i dont belive we should focus on a single champ/group/faction. And they should not simply end all evil and make everything happy and wonderfull. I belive new Runeterra is more like Westeros as in there are few true happy endings and more of bitter/sweet moments. And the considering every champion has a unique goal and a way to reach that goal it cant be explored through the eyes of someone else. All in all great post and love to see your ideas but we are still a ways off but when we get there i can picture a few bestsellers. (Darkin roadtrip pls Aatrox Kayn Varus )

Riot needs to open the Runeterra universe to Amazon Worlds. Allow independent authors to write stories in the League of Legends universe and Riot will make millions. There is a lot of talent in the self publishing world these days, why not tap into it.

If they do make movies, I just hope it will be entirely in CG, like the Final Fantasy and the Resident Evil CG movies. I just can't imagince the LOL champs being played by live actors. I don't care if it's an all-star lineup. Even if Garen would be played by Tom Cruise I don't care

correct me if i am wrong but doesn´t the lore revamp pogress at a snail pase? Still waiting for soraka´s new lore, but i guess i will have to wait for her rework or someone elses rework, where she can fit in. Such a backwards method of handling these things it ensures that even small changes will take ages. I have no confidence that riot could handle it. And don´t give me that quality over quantitiy bullcrap( people defended ea´s battlefront with the same argument ), because the quality-quantitiy ratio is so out of whack, every line would have to be pure gold that fills your heart and soul with everlasting joy to justify such a slow pase.

So i would love to read those books, short storys or whatever, but that would force riot to put more effort and rescources into it, which is not going to happen.

Eh Faction wise I think Lux and Ekko as protags is pretty likely. Ez is useful I guess because he can show up anywhere since he likes to explore but if you view regions as driving faction stories well Ezreal is more a reoccurring character that crosses over a lot to me since he really doesnt have a motivation. But I guess that does make him a good view point or audience insert but his lack of ties make it difficult.

So you need a main character for Demacia, Ionia, Piltover, Zaun, Bilgewater, Freljord , Shurima, Targon and Shadow Isles.

Course, the main criteria is you are going to be following a human or at least something that looks human. In a position to drive the overall faction narrative not just their personal story.

Shadow Isles: Well Yorick and Maokai are here and vaguely heroic...I say you follow Lucian in regards since he is human, has a main motivation and looks like the protag you tend to get in these series. Bilgewater: Miss Fortune probably since she just took out Gangplank for top status but you could also follow Gangplank. Friejord: Ashe and Sej are the faction leaders but its going to be Ashe. Liss is a shadowy villain you dont follow her all the time. Olaf could be interesting I suppose. Shurima: Taliyah...since most of the faction members here are godlike beings so Taliyah and to a lesser extent sivir are here in the driving seat unless we travel into the past in which case the Ascended can take a more central roll. Demacia: Lux probably....J4 is interesting alternative I suppose. Plenty of options but I dont see someone like Vayne or Xin driving the faction narrative so its Lux, Garen, J4 or Fiora. And Lux is a poster child. But really if you want a male its J4. If you want a female its Lux. Piltover: Vi and Cait are kinda of package deal...you could go Ez but Ez has kinda weak faction ties since he travels a lot. Zaun: Its Ekko, no contest. He has ties to pretty much every character in Zaun and a good deal of the Piltover side as well. Targon: Leona or Diana probably but since every member of this faction is a heavy hitter could be tricky. Noxus: Is the 2nd hardest to guess...there are plenty of options although I think Kat or Darius are the most obvious. You dont want to be Swain because its hard to follow the enigmatic boss. I go Darius here he is close enough to the top to be interesting and relevant. Ionia: Has so many options its almost impossible to pick a choice but I guess you go with Zed....he is popular and is connected to most of the going ons. He is kinda engimatic though so you lose some of the mystery by following him but he can drive the overall faction story.
