Retcons: LoL is REVERSE Smash Bros?

As others have said, LoL is now Smash Bros.

But Smash Bros was not only a fun game, all the characters were characters people already liked, and had their own games and stories. (And even though the first Smash didnt have a story, the next one DID).

Most of the people vocal about LORE are kind of shaken right now. (Especially considering over 2 years we lost both Champion Judgments and The Journal of Justice). There were those that predicted this as soon as they stopped giving a "And then X joined the league because Y" explanation in Champion/Hero backgrounds as well as removing references to the League from champion quotes in new voice overs after visual/model updates.

People want Riot to tell evolving stories that have events that matter. But gameplay is basically divorced currently from any "plot" -the game matches do not actually represent anything within the game world nor does Summoners Rift represent any actual place in the setting of Runeterra.

However this provides opportunity.

Riot Games has been

-Looking for people who can work on Console games -Opening new offices in Tokyo

Now...the Japanese have never really ever been known as PC gamers. But the immediate answer is that there may be a console port of LoL in the future.

But......THINK of the possibilities. Is a MOBA the best platform to tell long, ongoing stories? (Though I do like some of what Dawngate has been up to) They have a LARGE cast of characters as apart of their intellectual property. They are Riot GameS, and that makes me think in the future several of their characters or smaller groups of such COULD have their own games.

Runeterra is literally a fantasy kitchen sink (albeit with no Elves, Orcs, etc albeit there are trolls) with everything from Steampunk/Magitech, to Ninjas, to Pirates, to Medieval Euro-fantasy, and Lovecraftian entities. There's enough room that you could actually make many games that span various genres and themes with a shared setting, each telling stories through gameplay in ways that LoL itself never did.

if Japan gets a hold of riot, I want Narrative to take some pointers from them. Manga originated from there, so im sure the Japanese can tell better stories than this....Hire Eichiro Oda(Author of One Piece) Or any other manga artist there...At least Riot will get help with their story telling if that happens

The only problem with all this being that we are League of Legends players and they, at the moment, downgraded the game we play to a button-masher =/ Even though they certainly have plans to release some new product which will benefit from this move, we as LoL players have been hit. Did we deserve it? Is it fair to your fanbase to do such things? These are the moral questions that have come out with the retcon announcement.
