Some new VO popped up on the PBE talking to the Jungle Monsters

A very strange development indeed. Immediately the thought process leads to new champion, but what? An old hermit? A mystical forest entity? Dunno.

Any thoughts folks?

Here's the lines in text form:

"Poor Gromp. He was a prince amongst toads. " "You will be missed old friend, warts and all. " "Goodbye Gromp, or as you would say, ribbit. " "Hop to that lilypad in the sky, old friend. There was a lot of creaking in the voice that reminded me of the ents in Lord of the Rings. My guess is that its some type of forest being but besides that I haven't a clue.

I can dig it, especially since teasers of this nature (if this is such a teaser) are usually reserved for champions of a more mystical or magical nature (Bard, Tahm Kench, Kindred, Aurelion Sol and Kled as far as I remember).

Both Bard and Tahm Kench are 2015 champions and older than Kindred. It is possible to be a support champion.

And that's why most of the lines are him paying his respects to the fallen jungle monsters; he's not exactly happy that they're gonna die, but if he (providing this entity is a he) is all about nature and stuff, it might not be a big bother because circle of life and all that bollocks.

There was a supposed leak of a new champion’s splash art on /vg/ which is a board in 4chan. Please take it with a grain of salt, but it sorta matches with the whole “ent lord” theme.

EDIT: More evidence has come to light, and now the possibility that the leak is not correct far outweighs the possibility that it is. Then again, it is still fun to speculate.

From what I know from scouring Reddit, that artist is a freelancer that has worked with Riot in the past. Therefore, the point is still up in the air, I guess.

Yeah,but I doubt that the artist would be dumb enough to post the splash on his own art-blog,where riot clearly sees that he is leaking their stuff.

Not to mention that the art was released a month ago,if it was legit,then riot would have removed it already.

But it's for Galio. It has his voice actor, doing Galio's voice, with a rocky filter too it. Only a rocky person could cuddle with a Krug. Hell, Galio, the Sentinel of Sorrows, is on a first name basis with Daisy, the Blue Sentinel.

Galio's old lore talks about he is an outcast from society because he is a giant rock monster, but he cares for every living thing.

It's Galio.

First of all, why would they work on Galio this soon if their priority project is Warwick? Hell, a Rioter even said that they might look into Galio later on next year.

Second, Galio isn't a jungler. And Riot doesn't aim to make him one, so why make him a nature-loving hermit if he doesn't even jungle?

Third, by your logic, it could be Malphite too. Malphite's new VO could have a "rocky filter" as well. And how do you know this is Galio's voice actor? Their base voices don't even sound similar, and I would know considering that I'm a voice actor in practice myself. Don't jump to conclusions about things like that just because you want it to be.

Your logic is that Galio is an outcast from society (which he clearly is not, he's a Demacian hero and they practically worship the guy as a protector) and that he's a giant rock monster (which is also not true, judging from the art he's in he's at most 6 feet with a wingspan of 16 feet, so he's not as giant as you think he is. Malphite fits the "giant rock monster" category much better.

Also, seriously? Krugs grow like any other being. Pretty sure this mystery figure has cuddled with smaller ones, or maybe even is strong enough to cuddle with a normal one. Aso, Galio's title does not give him a "first name basis" with a common term given to guardians. The Blue Sentinel harbors a powerful magic force and protects it from thieves, and Galio, the Sentinel of Sorrow, is a guardian who is sad because he failed in protecting his master, but is determined to help those in need or sorrow. That's like me saying that Shyvana and Dragon are the same person because they're on a first name basis. "Dragonborn" and "Dragon" are so similar, Shyvana is actually Dragon omg illuminati confirmed!

Instead of coming up with false judgments and pushing them on everyone, how about you theorize like a normal person about who or what it could be? For example,

"I think that since this guy is a friend with jungle monsters, he's going to have fun times with the scuttle crab."

Nah Warwick's always been a murderous bastard, so I doubt any secondary or primary personality would be nearly as nice as this fellow seems to be.

I dunno, I believe Reav3 said they're trying to make him more like a werewolf. And I thought a big part of the modern werewolves were that there was a good person trapped in there somewhere.

Admittedly, some of the lines come off way more whimsical than I think anything of Warwick could be.

Warwick's always been portrayed as a horrible man though, even when he was human. In his current lore his lycanthropy was self inflicted let's not forget, as the purpose was to turn himself in to a more effective manhunter. I feel like this VO here is far too much of a deviation from what Warwick's always been portrayed as to be his VO, and I'm ESPECIALLY wary since Warwick's ban quote turned out to not be new, but a six year old unused VO line.

I guess I just don't hold nearly as much trust in Riot staying true to the old character during a rework as you do.

For the most part they've been pretty good at keeping to a character's theme during reworks. Sion is still a juggernaut who revels in destruction, he's just more serious about it. Poppy is still the 'knight' yordle, she's just a bit more awkward. Yorick is probably the most changed, and it can be argued that he didn't have much of a personality before.
